Are there any gd backroads in NoVA? - Beej - 09-06-2005 Been in a real driving mood lately, but I'm still relatively new to the area and I don't know of anything around here. Anything that resembles rt. 33 out into W.Va would be incredible, but nothing that's too far of a hike. I'm in Arlington, FWIW. - Mike - 09-06-2005 nope, nothing. some short stuff in great falls and the burke area, but nothing that can compare. s2ki MA chapter went on a drive a little bit out 66 (haymarket) and said it was a great road, but heavily policed. - .RJ - 09-06-2005 I head out to great falls on sunday mornings sometime with the miata.... you can spend an hour just driving around - nothing terribly exciting but on sun mornings they're empty and its a nice ride. - WRXtranceformed - 09-06-2005 I know some unbelievable roads, but you have to travel west on Rt. 50 out towards Middleburg / Great Plains. Billionaire country + well manicured roads = teh win. - navin - 09-06-2005 Middleburg was quite boring when I went out there, relaxing though... We should all just goto "The Dragon" at Deals Gap
- ScottyB - 09-06-2005 navin Wrote:Middleburg was quite boring when I went out there, relaxing though... stay with me and chan (no need to consult you, right buddy?)! we're 2 hours out, and thats not counting hitting the awesome roads in the north ga. mountains - WRXtranceformed - 09-06-2005 navin Wrote:Middleburg was quite boring when I went out there, relaxing though...Did you take the back way from North Fork / Lincoln to Middleburg? It's pretty insane =p - BLINGMW - 09-06-2005 ScottyB Wrote:no need to consult you, right buddy? heh, nah, door's always open to MM - navin - 09-07-2005 joke's on you! I'm not MM
- KPWSerpiente - 09-07-2005 Clifton has some nice roads in the middle of the day. Nothing you can get crazy on, but if you're in a cruising mood it's there are some good stretches. -T - Sijray21 - 09-07-2005 WRXtranceformed Wrote:I know some unbelievable roads, but you have to travel west on Rt. 50 out towards Middleburg / Great Plains. More scenic than anything else, the best roads around here are out west and further south. Pope's Head Road off the parkway was nice till they added rumble strips and cops. - Mike - 09-07-2005 KPWSerpiente Wrote:Clifton has some nice roads in the middle of the day. - Mike - 09-07-2005 navin Wrote:Hampton Rd off of 123 is decent - thats the rode we drove on that one time Mike... the only way i'd drive that road again is if i was within a couple miles of it. if you think that is decet you need to visit 33 west of h'burg. - Ginger - 09-07-2005 I'll take anybody that wants out to Thorton's Gap sometime. I was thinking about heading out there on Friday... but bring earplugs, my bike is LOUD. - Myuki - 09-07-2005 33 and 60 into wVA are nice, so is 60 across the mountains in VA, but that's down here more. For cruising, Rt 1, north of ashland for about an hour to 45 minutes is nice. once again, that's down here. - Atenza6i - 09-07-2005 i used to live in centreville for the past 13 years of my life, but moved to catharpin recently, off of rt. 234. there are some great backroads with twisties, but roads are narrow. at least there arent ANY cops. - JackoliciousLegs - 09-07-2005 Birdfoot in reston's a fun short one. Other than that, 50W and just take side roads. - ScottyB - 09-07-2005 we need to do an MM marathon drive down the parkway to SoVa and back  |
