Little update on the GS-T - KPWSerpiente - 08-31-2005
I really don't remember how long the car has been down, but it is about time I fixed her.
7 bolt block that my boy Rob and I pulled out of a 95 GSX like over a year ago was taken to Fairfax Auto in Merrifield where the head guy there Bob tore it down to make sure it wasn't too fucked up.
Going full on stockish rebuild. Block is being hot tanked, honed, milled and the crank polished then being reassembled by the big man Bob himself with the following parts...
Decade old 2g pistons
Decade old 2g rods
Brand new clevite 77 rod and main bearings
Seal power rings
Felpro gasket and seals for everything
slowboy racing's balance shaft elimation kit
Melling oil pump/front cover
Reusing my super sweet kevlar timing belt
and my 7 month old oem water pump
Topping off this monster short block is a 98 head pulled off my boy's car like 8 months ago. It's being cleaned up and having the valve stem seals replaced because it would suck if they leaked and everything else was fucking perfect.
Reusing my competition camshafts and arp head studs; sealing it off with a Cometic headgasket.
So yeah...I won half the money I needed this week in online poker ($800) which is nice cause I havn't really been working very much...it's a bitch to get to my job without a car.
I'm hoping to take lots of pictures...of the fucked up old motor and the dropping in of the rebuilt older one.
My only concern is that metal bits might have gone through the center section of the turbo...basically destroying it.
That'd suck.

sounds like you got lucky with your boys's (?) head and that old GSX block being available. and the out of the blue poker winnings (awesome btw). good luck with it man.

This is not a 'project.' I'm not Blair. No one would buy the car for what it is worth to me...so I'm stuck with it.
And I'm not 100% ready to talk about where I am and what I'm doing. But I'm not in the hburg, and I know I won't be returning just yet.

RJ, Bob does all my machine work. Which isn't really that much, up until now.

Since I sold my 650's I need to order some 1000cc's before the boost gets turned up big again. Never have too much fuel.

i think he means that he's not in your situation where you buy/build a car with the knowledge that you'll sell it someday, like with your corrolla.

yea i guess... but i never knew if i were ever going to sell the rolla.. just so happened that i did
dont forget i have had my gti since 1998 have so much money and time into that i can NEVER sell it----for anything near what i would hope for.. so im keeping it forever.. maybe thats what he means about the GST.. and in that case im in the same boat (with my VW)

it's true on some levels
just one of those cars that you're passionate about that you'll never sell.
as Pete would call it, your "Passion Car" as is he with the XR4ti and with Blair the mk3 VW, but Blair has multiple cars, so i feel he's more likely to lean with the VW then another car
For me that's actually the mkii, the honda's will be gone, but the vw will always stay. You'll keep a car like that because it has a lot of sentimental value that you can't replace in another car, or if you've invested a lot of money that another person buying just would not respect, and thus will not pay what you believe it's worth.
There are project cars and then there are PROJECT cars, just depends on how you feel about them. I think T got a little defensive and thus 'testy' though :wink: It's obviously not JUST his project car, but his car.
I think what they were referring to Blair was that when he has a car he goes all out with it and doesn't sacrifice anything to get it to where he exactly wants it. (ie: ideal Drifto-style ae86, Euro VW mk3 Gti vr6, and now the 240sx with b00st!)

Yeah. I wasn't putting Blair down, only pointing out that he could sell the Corolla and have another running project car before I can fix my one and only car.
And I know that Feerst has never had a car that he was obsessed with...but he did buy that bike and just sell it the second he dropped it. I'm not capable of selling this 'project' just because I've run into a few problems in the past 6-8 months. It isn't a project to me, just my car.

Scotty has gotten absolutely nothing for being correct. Because I made big changes to the car after the dyno...and it has been less than impressive since then. I'm all over that when she's running right.
