BMW Test Drive Event 4/29 - G.Irish - 03-24-2004
The BMW Ultimate Drive for Susan G. Komen is coming up again this year. It is a special event BMW puts on around the country where you can test drive any car in their lineup (except for the M's and no manuals). For each mile you drive BMW will donate $1 on your behalf to the Susan G. Komen breast cancer research fund.
You have to be 21 to do it and of course have a valid driver's license. I think they'll have an event in Charlottesville and they'll most likely have one at FedEx field or Sterling BMW. Go to either or both. Sign up doesn't open till March 28th for FedEx (and/or Sterling) and March 29th for what I believe will be Charlottesville. See link below for more info.

I've done this three times and it is always pretty fun. You've gotta sign up early though because the cool stuff gets picked pretty quick. Now that the new 5 and 6 series are available as well as the Z4 this should be a really fun ultimate drive.

im not sure if i understood this right, but are all the cars automatic transmissioned? if so that blows. but i guess i can understand, seeing as how there will be some ham-fisted apes driving these cars :?

I'm dying to know what active steering feels like, and I don't think I could walk into a dealer and ask to drive an e60, so I'm in.

They had the M's at the first one I did but you had to be 25 to drive them. Even then, people were crashing them so they stopped bringing them out :?
What they should do is allow you to drive the M's with a chaperone, although I must admit I sure as hell wouldn't get into an M with a random yahoo for this sort of test drive.
