Front Brake issues - Kaan - 08-12-2005

Ok... I've fried the front brakes on my crx on the street in 2 months. The front passanger side is carving into the rotor, the drivers side is just really low.

do i just to calipers, rotors, and pads... or do i replace the proportioning valve and MC as well? who wants to do major brake work befor the chili cook off? Smile please?!?! thats if i can get my hands on all the parts!

dragging caliper(s).

a bad MC you should feel in the pedal (and it wouldnt wear your rotors)

- Kaan - 08-12-2005

so, two caliper rebuild kits... OR two rebuilt calipers... new rotors and street pads Wink

Bring it to the chili cookoff, I'll rock it out for ya.

- Kaan - 08-12-2005

so whats that going to be... 12 beers for RJ... 16 for me... ummm... 10 for evan... we'll be ready to go!

- Evan - 08-12-2005

no wrenching at chili cookoff

- .RJ - 08-12-2005

:!: :?: :!:

- Evan - 08-12-2005

its a cookout/party, not a wrenchday. You guys can wrench if you want to come a couple hours early, but the tools get put away before 2

- Kaan - 08-12-2005

we know that damn you! thats why we are starting early Tongue i have to get cleaned up before RJs sister shows up Wink

- Mike - 08-12-2005

brakes = cake. i'll help too... do me a favor, jack up the front of the car, take car out of gear and try to spin wheels. how much resistance?

- Kaan - 08-12-2005

i know at least one caliper is bad. the front right... when it started grinding the rotor... i could hear it sticking a little... it might just need to be cleaned up and and have new boots put on it... but if i'm doing one caliper up front i might as well do them both... and it might just be more effective to replace them with rebuilds and not rebuild them on my own.

- Mike - 08-12-2005

find some junk spares locally (i probably have 2 civic cores i could give you), buy rebuilt, and then attempt to rebuild your old ones. having some spares and knowing how to rebuild them = priceless once you start tracking heavily.

- .RJ - 08-12-2005

Shit, I still havent rebuilt my old ones... :hammer:

oh and mikey, crx calipers dont = civic ones... *shrug*

- .RJ - 08-12-2005

Doesnt matter. Buy remans at autozone... pay the core charge... put mikey's old busted ass civic calipers back in the box and get your core $$ back.

- Mike - 08-12-2005

Mikey feels used...
