Best place for windshield/window replacement - 89glass.com - Sijray21 - 07-27-2005 Hey guys, I just wanted to let everyone know that if you ever need to have your windshield replaced or any window i highly recommend 89 glass (http://www.89glass.com). I recently cracked the windshield on the Si b/c of a rock and i contacted them to replace it. Lowest price, friendly customer service, and great timing. to 89glass! - bluhayz - 07-28-2005 My car just got hit by a rock on the highway as I was driving up to NOVA.... these guys want like 290 for it. Is that like a decent price? I figured that stuff doesn't cost more than 150. Lemme know, thanks. - Sijray21 - 07-28-2005 i paid $318 for mine. Everywhere else i was quoted $350 and above. If it's small enough some places can actually 'repair' it for less than $100. If it's kinda big that's not too bad of a price  - Sijray21 - 07-28-2005 bluhayz Wrote:My car just got hit by a rock on the highway as I was driving up to NOVA.... these guys want like 290 for it. I'm not sure which company i talked to, but they might have that kind of deal with 89glass.com. My deductible $500 so it was better for me not to claim it. - JohnC - 02-14-2006 Back from the dead - the Subaru picked up a rock chip a few weeks ago that turned into a full-fledged, all the way across crack when we heated the car up yesterday (after it sat under snow over the weekend). I called my insurance company (USAA) - they use Safelite. Then Maeng reminded me about this thread - so I called 89Glass too. Unfortunately, nobody seems to stock glass for an '04 Impreza - it looks like a dealer-only item and probably on backorder too. And when it does get replaced - $450 :? On the plus side, the glass is cracked all the way through and lets air through hock: when driven. Needless to say, the car is parked in the garage until it gets a new windshield.

Replacing a windshield is kinda pricey... :? - JohnC - 02-14-2006 theguywiththeSi Wrote:i say try and go through insurance if your deductible is less than $400. Replacing a windshield is kinda pricey... :? Unfortunately my comprehensive deductible is $500. 89glass does give a $50 rebate for going through insurance, so thats what gets it down to $450. The price of the windshield is well north of $600 - so I'm not getting bent over to the fullest extent possible, but pretty close. - Jeff - 02-14-2006 The tona has a crack in the corner of the windshield. I've been debating fixing that before I paint. Its up in the tinted part and you can barely see it. I never have problems with inspection  so it would be purely for the heck of it. I had a good windshield in the white one and was gonna cut it out but I smashed it with a prybar trying to get the trim off around the edge the quick way. - Nick325is - 02-14-2006 Might as well pull the windshield when you paint it. Subaru windshields are so expensive to repair too... if you have that windshield wiper heating element built into it like my old WRX did, it costs like $600 to replace. I used Blue Ridge Auto Glass when the windshield on my truck developed a crack and I paid only $219 with a coupon I found. They even drove to my house to fix it for me, I didn't have to do shit. I think there's one in Winchester, but I'd look locally and just call around for places. You can usually find somewhere that's willing to beat a competitor's price. - Jewels - 02-14-2006 I also used Blue Ridge Auto glass. It was the one in winchester, and I believe it was only like 300 bucks, which is still high in my opinion but I didn't have to pay it so I didn't really care. - Ryan T - 02-14-2006 Talk to your insurance company, most have a set deductable for windshields. I've cracked two in the past and just had to pay a $50 deductable for it and they had it fixed. People came to my house and fixed it while it was in the garage, no questions asked. - JohnC - 02-14-2006 Ryan T Wrote:Talk to your insurance company, most have a set deductable for windshields. Unfortunately, I don't have that coverage. $500 deductible (comprehensive). - JohnC - 02-15-2006 Here's a stunning outcome. 89glass called me back, and said... "Sorry, we can't get that windshield for you - we suggest you try elsewhere." Hilarious. And this isn't even the worst vehicle-related thing that I have to deal with this week... Keep your eyes peeled for a DMV-hatred thread, coming soon to the Lounge. - Ryan T - 02-15-2006 JohnC Wrote:Ryan T Wrote:Talk to your insurance company, most have a set deductable for windshields. I have comprehensive insurance as well with at $500 deductable, but they had a special clause for windshields and rear glass with $50 deductable, I thought all companies were like that...oh well. - white_2kgt - 02-15-2006 Ryan T Wrote:JohnC Wrote:Ryan T Wrote:Talk to your insurance company, most have a set deductable for windshields. I know w/ statefarm we have 'glass breakage' which I should have used on the mustang last week, dammit! It is a $50 deductable as well. I had a guy come to my place and re-install my rear glass. Took him all of 20 minutes. - Mike - 02-15-2006 so this 89glass place is no good? damnit, the hatch needs a windshield badly. - Sijray21 - 02-15-2006 Mike Wrote:so this 89glass place is no good? damnit, the hatch needs a windshield badly. i had a good experience with them, i wonder why they said they didn't have John's windshield....that's a bit odd - Jeff - 02-15-2006 www.89.com is porno....its hard to find a good windshield these days. - Mike - 02-15-2006 TurboOmni08 Wrote:its hard to find a good windshield these days. pun intended? |
