anyone trying to help me out? - Sijray21 - 03-20-2004 Well the 5-0 got me again for the fart cannon, so off it goes. The inside of the muffler is sort of deteriorating, so i was planning on replacing it anyway. This just gives me a deadline to install it, hopefully sooner. But i was wondering if anyone wanted to help me out with re-installing my stock exhaust system? Probably during a weekend or something. - Mike - 03-20-2004 Sure. Or you couldn't just get a magnaflow, I love mine. - Sijray21 - 03-20-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:Sure. Or you couldn't just get a magnaflow, I love mine. i could, but i have the stock one, and i don't really feel like spending money on another exhaust - Mike - 03-20-2004 Just a new muffler, mine cost $150 total (install, muffler, b-pipe) and still sounds pretty sweet. - KPWSerpiente - 03-20-2004 Jeez, hit another time? I'm going like on close to my second month after installing my exhaust and I'm pointless ticket free. Anyone want to start up a pool on when I get unlucky? I've got the time and inclination to help, just not today or tomorrow (rallyx). Post up a date and time and locale and I'll try and be there. -t - Sijray21 - 03-20-2004 i still need to get the exhaust gaskets from Honda or check up on that and get another set of bolts incase i need them I'm thinking sometime next saturday, possibly afternoon. Not sure where, probalby just the sunchase parrking lot or the commuter lot by college center for flatter ground. - Dave - 03-20-2004 i'll try to help ya if I can. Personally, I think that you should keep it on there. It sounds good as hell and you should never have to pay the ticket, just go to court and fight it (still have to pay court fees though :thumbdown .
- Chris - 03-21-2004 I'll try and help also when you know what time. A little advice on this subject- if the pipe looks rusted at all, u may want to have it installed by someone (monro). you can get into a lot of trouble with stuck bolts, stripping them and snapping them off.... not that I've EVER done those 3 things. but if you'd like to try, myself, some penetrating spray, and the breaker bar are ready. - Mike - 03-21-2004 Pretty sure JRay has stainless steel exhaust
- Sijray21 - 03-21-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:Pretty sure JRay has stainless steel exhaust i wish... , ceramic piping with SS mufflerthe evo2 however is all SS That's bolts are what i'm worried about. - Mike - 03-21-2004 Ceramic? Sounds bling. Who makes it? - Chris - 03-21-2004 oh man, i need every under part of my car to be stainless steel! esp. those damn bolts - Sijray21 - 03-22-2004 lol, you better believe it's bling! the exhaust is a Greddy Evo 1 that's about 3 years and well over 70K miles on it, they didn't offer a SS system for that particular exhaust at the time, they just started about a year ago. I chose it for its tone and fitment when i purchased it a while ago. the bolts are the same one's that came with honda, but i'm just worried about the age...it's been on for the about 3/4 of the car's life/mileage. - Evan - 03-22-2004 Exhaust bolts are a royal bitch. Definately get fresh ones, so you can torch, cut and mangle the bolts that are on there without worrying about having to put them back on. - Sijray21 - 03-22-2004 alright i was able to get a quote from Monro's. They told me that they will install the exhaust system for $40 and that includes any modifications that might be necessary, since i have all the parts. Would it be worth it to get them to deal with it? What do you guys think about this? I'm thinking the bolts are around $10-$12. - KPWSerpiente - 03-22-2004 Is that with the discount MM is getting from Monro? Either way it depends on you. I personally would hoard the 40 bucks and do it myself...maybe rent an electric hand held saw from home depot if need be, which I did need. It would come out cheaper. But then the exhaust side is a pain in the ass without a lift and it is still kinda cold outside. -T - Mike - 03-22-2004 That's a tough call, I'd check the bolts first and then if you have issues take it to them. - .RJ - 03-22-2004 For $40 let them do it. Some things are not worth my time hassle or rust in my eyeballs... |
