Local potential project car FS. Cheap with potential. - Evan - 06-29-2005 I saw this on craigslist. Cheap, awd, straight body, low(ish) miles........ http://washingtondc.craigslist.org/car/81506002.html no, its not mine, and I know nothing about it. But damn its begging for an EJ20..... If I didnt have a busted miata needing a new engine in the driveway I would start it as a project myself Pop in a cheap WRX drivetrain and you have 230hp(with much more for very cheap), AWD, on a sub 2400 lb car. throw on the 11.5" WRX brakes, and some decent shocks/springs/swaybars and you have a disgustingly quick, reliable track car for under $5k Re: Local potential project car FS. - CaptainHenreh - 06-29-2005 EJ20t swap is really hard, too. But that's a killer price for a fun, reliable daily driver with alot of potential. - Evan - 06-29-2005 CaptainHenreh Wrote:EJ20t swap is really hard, too.not at all. Its almost as simple as a honda or 240 swap - Mike - 06-29-2005 Evan Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:EJ20t swap is really hard, too.not at all. Its almost as simple as a honda or 240 swap i have not heard that. - Ryan T - 06-29-2005 Anyone looking for another awd beater, there is a dodge stealth r/t tt for sale near my house for 2500 with a manual transmission that is going bad. - ScottyB - 06-29-2005 Ryan T Wrote:Anyone looking for another awd beater, there is a dodge stealth r/t tt for sale near my house for 2500 with a manual transmission that is going bad. just as a note....those trannys have to be replaced as an entire unit, which is expensive as crap. - CaptainHenreh - 06-29-2005 Mike Wrote:Evan Wrote:CaptainHenreh Wrote:EJ20t swap is really hard, too.not at all. Its almost as simple as a honda or 240 swap The engine wiring harness does not just go into the car, it goes all through the back of the dash and even into the door. The actual *swap* mechanics are easy -- the electrical will kill you. I've heard tell that SVX 3.3 swaps are easier than EJ20's. - Mike - 06-29-2005 yeah yeah i'm with you that "it is not as easy as a honda or 240 swap"
- Sijray21 - 06-29-2005 to be able to do it would be pretty cool though, i like the idea - Evan - 06-29-2005 The wiring on the EJ20 swap is time consuming but not difficult. the wiring isnt cake on a 240 either, and as more people do the EJ20 swap the knowledge pool is growing and the swap is becoming a rinse and repeat exercise. The only thing this donor car doesnt have goign for it is that its not a OBDII car. A 96 Impreza L 5 speed AWD would be the perfect car for the swap. |
