95 GSR - damnit458 - 06-14-2005

Im asking this for a friend of mine. Hes looking into a 95 gsr sedan. Car has 145k miles on it, just got new belts/rotors. Everything runs fine, needs no work. Outside of the car also looks good, nothing not normal for a 10 yr old car. The guy is asking $4k, but my friend says he thinks he can get him down to somewhere between 3.5-4k. Is this a good deal for the given price range?

If it matters, my friend wont be tracking this or anything like that. This would just be a DD/something he could work on visually (the ricer that he is), and with a little pull.

GSR sedans are awesome. Do a compression test on it and if all checks out, buy it.

At 145k there's going to be some worn out shit - so be ready to turn some wrenches. Radiator, axles, some bushings, timing belt and related bits (if not done already... may be due for round 2 anyways), some of the top end gaskets, fuel filter, and probably a few other things will need to be replaced.

Not that its a bad thing - just know what you're getting into. If its been taken care of (regular oil changes) and compression on the motor is good, then no reason it cant be a good car.

Ok. Ill let him know. Im not so sure he's as willing as some would be to do this, but he/his father works at honda, and they're always giving his family a helping hand on car related stuff, so i doubt it would be that bad. Compression test wise, where could he go to get this done? Hell id like to know that myself actually.

Also, what should normal comp numbers be at that mileage?

- JackoliciousLegs - 06-14-2005

you can do the comp test yourself... it's EZ...

even i can do it... lol

- .RJ - 06-14-2005

I can lend you my compression tester, I'd go over with you and do it but I'm just real short on free time these days unless you can bring it by my place (vienna) in the evening or over the weekend.

Compression numbers should still be at 190-200psi....

RJ theres no time you could get out this week (damn how i wish i was 21 so I could throw in beer for doing it  ). Anyway, the guy lives in Ashburn so I doubt we'll be able to get the car over to Vienna. Im going to go with my friend soon to go look at it (considering Ive been the one doing all the talking to the guy for him), but anybody else wanna come with who has what we need and knows how to do it?

Well with new breaks, you should be able to knock quite a bit off of his asking price.
