is that what you put on your resume scotty?

objective: to obtain and entry-level bs job that will allow me to surf the web, post on message boards, and just generally dick around, while still getting paid.

Isn't that pretty much all any IT job is ? =p

No offense to people who work in the computer industry, but I can GUARANTEE you that I work harder in one day than most IT people work in 3.

- G.Irish - 05-18-2005

If by harder you mean calories burned.

Well if you are going to make it a pissing contest Wink I can GAURANTEE you that I work many more hours doing work that requires more skill, knowledge, experience and education. Unfortunately, it is also usually done while sitting down.

While my company (and usually consulting in general) may work our asses off, I do see way too many gov't employees and gov't contractors that dont do a damn thing all day.

- Mike - 05-18-2005

Oh man I'm laughing really hard right now.

I wish we could compare the percentage of high school dropouts in the IT industry to those in the construction industry.

ROFL

Oh yeah guys? I guarantee I can run a mile faster than any of you! I guarantee I know more about data warehousing than any of you! I guarantee I can play the Tuba better than any of you! Oh yeah!?!!? My Dad can beat up your Dad!

Woooooooooooo!

ha, i'd love a job like that! but, i might as well just put that on my resume. every design job i look into wants someone who is a graphic/interior/industrial designer who is an autoCAD/java/html pro and can be a webmaster and has at least 10 years experience. i wanna know what the heck these people that they are looking for started out doing :?

Fixed that for you

- Feersty - 05-18-2005

I would like to think that the more money you make the harder you work. Or at least that is how it should be. Or just work enough not to get fired as Peter Gibbons says.

Our company won't even pick up your resume unless you have a 4 year degree. I went through a month's worth of interviews and psychological testing (ha!) before I was offered this job. That goes for both production and sales. Most big builders are the same way. We subcontract our work out to other people, so your statement is partly correct. There are many people doing the actual building of homes that are not highly educated, but those are the people we hire. We're the bosses of those people.

This isn't the construction industry, this is the new homes industry. Smart people are making a lot of money off of the labor of uneducated workers. Still though, even those uneducated workers work a ton harder than most people in America do... and they make about 1/100th the salary.

- .RJ - 05-18-2005

Not having a 4-yr degree != uneducated or not highly educated......

And conversely, just because you have a college degree, does not mean you are smart - I've seen plenty of examples of that one. Hell, even if you are working towards your PhD, you can still be a fucking idiot like my last boss.
