Race weekend ended early - GQROB - 05-07-2005 My planned weekend of fun at Summit Point ended before it started yesterday on 495N. I was hit from behind an hour into my trip to the track, causing me to miss the kart race today. I wasn't all that mad when the accident occured, because my car and kart for the most part were spared. The trailer and hitch assembly absorbed most of the impact. The impact actually sheared one of the straps holding the kart(hopefully kart frame is fine) to the trailer, but thankfully the kart stayed on the trailer. The trailer went partially underneath the car causing minimal damage to the car although today I noticed that my S/S Stromung exhaust is dented(notice red paint on muffler) and bent down about 1.5". It also caused some minor cosmetic damage to the bumper tag area. Now the bad news is that I am told that dealing with the persons insurance company is going to be a pain. It was a government employee (FBI) that was driving a govt. car. I am told that it will be a long and drawn out process. So now, I might have to dish more money out of my pocket to purchase another trailer and hitch if I want to drive the end of May event at VIR. I already had to pay $325.00 to have the trailer brought to my house. What a pain. I am pissed  Rob Sorry the pics are so large... ![]()
- Evan - 05-07-2005 Sorry to hear that Rob ![]() Stay vigilant with the ins. company and put pressure on the guy too, and hopefully you will get all your money. (including the $325 to tow trailer!) good luck! - Maengelito - 05-07-2005 also, get them to pay for your race registration since you missed the weekend. not sure you'll get it, but you definitely wont unless you ask. - white_2kgt - 05-07-2005 wow, that pic makes me want to add a few strips of steel at the hitch coulper. --chad - Ginger - 05-07-2005 Sorry to hear, man. Good luck with the government insurance... could you get your insurance company into the picture to do some asking for you? - Nis01 - 05-07-2005 Sorry to hear about the accident. 495 is a nightmare, I was just on it today (Sat.) with bumper to bumper traffic... I make sure to avoid that area at all costs. Hope everything works alright. - ScottyB - 05-07-2005 sorry to see that Rob. at least it sounds like you're dealing with it well. best of luck with the insurance. - Mike - 05-07-2005 that is balls. good luck with the insurance fiasco. - bassmangrammy - 05-07-2005 all things aside...having the trailer hit is alot less of a headache than if the dude had gotten into the rear of the car. - Chris - 05-08-2005 damn that sucks man. On a side note, my brother was driving his 96 celica down from Mason for my graduation on Friday afternoon and was beside a tractor trailer in the left lane going about 70 when the truck just moved over immediately into his lane. He had no where to go so he had to pull off the road and hit the guard rail. It f'd up the whole side of his car breaking the headlight and all the way back... really sucks but he and my mom are ok, thank God. Insurance won't pay to tow the car all the way back to Richmond, so my dad and I are renting a dolly and getting it back home. - Feersty - 05-08-2005 Sorry about your brother Chris. Sorry about the trailer Rob. |
