WTB - a new (to me) car - Maengelito - 04-20-2005

yes ladies and gentlemen (and i use that term loosely)

christina will soon be for sale as i cope with some hard decisions. i love her and all, but she's going the way of evan's mom.

old and busted

so i've decided that i will continue to track her for the rest of the year and then sell her so i can get something in return before i stuff her in a tire wall. well my incident in atlanta has me accelerating my plans and this warm weather isnt helping a bit. which brings me to my decisions.

the car must be (in order of importance):
1) cheap
2) cheap
3) semi reliable
4) cheap
5) convertible (damn sunny days)
6) rwd
7) cheap

so all signs point to the miata aka fag car. if i can find a decent one for a good price, then i'm willing to sell the integra soon and fetch a miata. however, i will not rule out:
an insanely good deal on a 96 Z3
S14 240
cheap suby RS
E36 or *gasp* E30
or another integra/civic

lets hear your thoughts on this matter and if for some reason you hear of a good deal on any of these cars, lemme know.

E30 or 240.... you can find E36's for $5k but they'll need a bit of work to fix all the busted ass suspension parts.

I think someone on h-tech was selling a Black Miata R in North Carolina area, I think Ryan knows her...

- Chris - 04-20-2005

Maeng, check out the CRX RJ posted.

Donkey.

The car is in Boston - and its overpriced.

S13 240s werent available in a convertible.
Are you dead set on a 'vert? If so, does that mean you'll be tracking the STi or be putting a rollbar into this new purchase?

roll bar into the new purchase. if i got a 240, it wouldnt be the convertible, but i'm open to other suggestions as well

- Evan - 04-20-2005

actually the s13 was available in convertible. in 93 and 94.

Dont get an S13, they take way too much money and work to get the suspension in a good state to track, not to mention seats, lsd, and a truck motor that hates life above 5k rpm. Brakes are also questionable.
If you do get a 240sx, the best bet is to find an S14 SE. 5 Lug hubs mean an easy swap to bigger Z32 brakes, a viscous LSD standard, much better seats, and no jungle gym rear suspension.

Although as you know, the Miata is the perfect track car out of the box. Great handling stock, torsen LSD (in a 94+) and a great potential as a race car. Drawback is finding a hardtop (you really really need one before it touches the track)

I cant wait for you to get a miata and I can throw all your lame fag jokes right back at you. bitch.

i'm not gonna get an s13, if i do a 240, it'll definitely be an s14

whatever, you're still a fag. Big Grin

- Mike - 04-21-2005

i'd rule out the e30 if you're concerned about busted shit. my vote is s14 or another integra/civic. the s14 cause rwd is hot and so are hatches for carrying all your shit. the integra/civic because you're familiar with them already, they are cheap, and they can be very fun. oh yeah, hatches rock for carrying all your shit.

- Dave - 04-21-2005

damn, I'm dumb. I knew that S13s were the only 240 in 'vert, but my finger slipped over to the 3, rather than the 4, and I didn't catch it. D'oh.

vote #2 for an S14.

Mike Wrote:i'd rule out the e30 if you're concerned about busted shit.

They're not any more busted than the stuff you've had to deal with.

- Evan - 04-21-2005

the e30s that I have ridden in, even after suspension modifications have handled like ass.

i haven't had to deal with busted shit. i had one stuck bolt in my entire suspension.

Confusedhock: You goin down son. :x

having "convertable" on the list pretty much makes the choice for you. Fag car it is! I couldn't find these great pics of a 318is convertable with a bar in it though, it was SWEEET. But even I can't recommend an E30 convertable for a track car, that's kinda dumb.
