Me and Pete put it in Saturday and started it. There was a pretty large air leak sounded almost like a blower sucking air, we thought the intake was cracked. Then we had an electrical problem where it was blowing the PCM fuse. Pete tracked it down to a shorted circuit. Pretty large wiring harness. Well we work on it for about 6hrs Sunday and gave up.

I pulled all the wiring diagrams and pinouts and started testing. Tracked the short back to the main engine wiring harness. Found the wire that was shorted was going to all 8 injectors and the idle air control valve. So I started pulling injector wires and testing each of them. When I went to pull the throttle body out of the way I found that I had pinched one of the injector wires between the intake and the throttle body. This caused that circuit to gound itself out. Well I cut out the bad wire, spliced in good and reattached the Throttle body. I then fired it up and it started, ran and NO MORE AIR LEAK!!! YEA!!!!

So I threw on my race pads (had to order some new street pads) and took it for a spin around the block. Drives like shit (whole new front end and the alignment is WAY off). But damn does it pull like a mother. I left some fresh black marks in the driveway, I'm sure the wife will fuss about that in the morning, oh but damn it was worth it!!!

VIR Here I come!

Overhead cams? On a V8? I'll take two!

Completely sweet, I love it. Now you just need some 'V6' badges to top it all off....

damnit chad, you have too many cylinders. and a lift. i think i speak for everyone here when i say "we hate you cuz we're all jealous." now bring your shit to hpde3 so i can roll you in my crappy pile

- Ginger - 04-13-2005

Dude, that rocks!

- PDenbigh - 04-13-2005

It's an engine out of an 01 cobra, with 9000 miles on it. Stock engine, sorta. He put on a windage tray and an accusump and Canton baffled oil pan to make sure the engine was recieving sufficient oil coverage.

It was awesome to see that thing work its way into that engine bay. Clearance was <1" on either side as we lowered the car on to it.

Congrats man! I just wish we'd found it sooner!

- Dragon - 04-13-2005

Congrats man!
