Moto GP @ Jerez - Discussion - JohnC - 04-10-2005 Wow - what a race. This was the first Moto GP race I'd ever watched all the way through, and it was *awesome*! Rossi's last pass for the win will definitely be analyzed for the rest of the season - it looked to me like he took the inside line and was maybe a little *too* aggressive. No final judgements yet, though. I was dissapointed that Hayden crashed out - was looking forward to seeing him on the podium. All in all a great race to watch - I'm looking forward to Estoril. - .RJ - 04-10-2005 What a bitch...... - Evan - 04-10-2005 Fucking Rossi.... It looked pretty obvious to me like he was wide of the apex on purpose to bump Sete. I was really bummed when Nicky laid the bike down I wanted to see him on the podium. He was also really helping Sete when he was up Rossi's ass. - Ginger - 04-10-2005 Rossi's getting a bit of a reputation for bumping his way around Sete. I haven't seen the race yet, but now I'm pretty stoked. - G.Irish - 04-10-2005 The move was questionable but Sete should've taken the defensive line on that corner knowing full well that Rossi was going to try for the pass. Apparently Sete was so pissed that he didn't even pop the champagne on the podium. This looks like it could get ugly. You can bet that Sete is going to be a lot meaner for the rest of the season. Rossi said in the post-race conference, "For sur Sete eez angry but dis ez the races" Yeah no shit. Rossi would've been furious if Sete had pulled the same stunt. Rossi got mad last year when he got protested for doing burnouts in his grid space. For the most part my picks were accurate. I was one off on Nakano and of course I didn't expect Nicky to lowside it. I was also one off on my prediction for Edwards but Tamada disappointed big time. Great result for Melandri for getting on the podium. Still, he wouldn't have been able to catch Nicky if he hadn't crashed. - Ginger - 04-10-2005 Nicky's a great rider, gotta love the guy. But he tries too hard. It seems like every time the pressure's on he really starts to contribute to the parts bin. Didn't he lose it the same way in last year's finale? If he can pull off a really good result, say, top 2, he might be able to start stringing them together - for now he seems like something's hanging over his head. On Hopper - man what a break. MotoGP at his age? We should all be so talented! McCoy left the paddock to go back to WSB, though, for the same reasons that the American Adolescent is starting to face (well, and I've always thought Gary was a stubborn asshole). Maybe Repsol should can the Biaggi and bring in some more fresh talent? I don't suppose anybody taped the race? I can't watch the next showing on Speed, either
- G.Irish - 04-10-2005 Hopper actually had the flu this weekend so that probably significantly affected his performance. Nicky wants to win, he doesn't want to just podium and that's why he's pushing so hard. Unfortunately it is causing him to crash out. I don't know if he's just losing concentration or what but he needs to get his mental game right if he wants to keep his ride. I taped the race (as well as Speed World Challenge Touring & GT). I'll try to see if I can get the link to motogp.com for you of the full race. - G.Irish - 04-10-2005 Here you go: http://www2.motogp.com/ppv_multimedia2/ ... _77560.wmv Its like 231 MB - Mike - 04-10-2005 damn, they must have uber bandwidth to be able to host a 200meg race video... - G.Irish - 04-10-2005 And they stream it hock:
- Ginger - 04-10-2005 Gerald, you're my freaking hero. Thanks! - G.Irish - 04-11-2005 The "incident" from multiple angles: http://www2.motogp.com/ppv_multimedia2/ ... _36228.wmv - JohnC - 04-11-2005
- Evan - 04-11-2005 looks like Rossi early apexed to get inside of Sete(and wasnt all the way track left either) which pushed him out early, not giving Sete proper racing room and smacking him off the track. Complete bullshit move. Last night on Windtunnel both Dave Despain and Mario Andretti agreed that it was a shitty move. fuck Rossi. I used to like him and have respect for him (just didnt root for him) but after this he can suck my ass. - Ginger - 04-11-2005 The move wasn't so bad when I first saw it. Rossi screwed up his apexes all race. Sete must make him really worried, and he should be. I'm sure he set up for the inside either way - you can debate the honor behind that all you want, but I wouldn't have been upset over it if it hadn't resulted in contact. But when Gibernau did go off track and Rossi wheelied across the line I was really ticked. THAT'S bullshit. It may be a win in the books, but there's nothing in it if you punt somebody. Gibi's got every right to be really, really pissed: I think I'll be in his paddock this season. Fuck Rossi, indeed. He was WAY too excited over a really shallow win. - JohnC - 04-11-2005 Slightly wider angle of the shot:
- Mike - 04-13-2005 i just watched it... that was racing, f the crybaby bitches. - G.Irish - 04-13-2005 Evan Wrote:looks like Rossi early apexed to get inside of Sete(and wasnt all the way track left either) which pushed him out early, not giving Sete proper racing room and smacking him off the track. Complete bullshit move. Yeah I agree, most people don't take account of the fact that Rossi early apexed the turn to get inside of Sete. It reminds of Gran Turismo where you're going too fast for the turn but you bounce off the other car on the inside in order to make it. - ScottyB - 04-13-2005 i just watched it too....i think rossi was way way off the proper line and used sete as a crutch. i don't know what he was thinking but it was bullshit. then the wheelie at the end? lame. - Mike - 04-13-2005 they always do a wheelie at the end if they're gonna win
