- Feersty - 04-07-2005 Ha ROFL. - Sijray21 - 04-07-2005 can you really 'repair' fiberglass? i'm a little confused, melting the pieces back together or something? - HAULN-SS - 04-07-2005 basically using more fiberglass to bridge the gap, I think - Nick325is - 04-08-2005 You just use more sheets of fiberglass and resin to cover the repair area. Then let dry and sand down smooth and paint. Nick - Dave - 04-08-2005 maybe you should come to the meeting and introduce yourself. I'm a bit more apt to lend stuff to somebody that I know. - KPWSerpiente - 04-08-2005 Repairing a fiberglass bumper should not a problem. I have a buddy club 2 front end for a 97+ eclipse that I bought very cheap with a big crack in the fiberglass. You will basically get some glass and resin and glass the back side of the crack. Let cure. Then bondo the front side to fill in the crack and sand it down. Keep sanding until you can't tell there was ever a crack. At least that is how I'm going to do it...I havn't yet. If anyone real good with fiberglass has a suggestion hit me up with it. My dad is more than adept with it though and this is how he outlined it to me. -T - JustinG - 04-09-2005 ive had the same problems with my front, if it isnt a huge ginourmous crack, take a dremel, V out the crack, take some fiberglass epoxy, fill it, let it dry, sand flush, respray w/ paint and primer. When i say huge crack i mean a big gap between the fiber glass, doesnt matter how long the crack is though. This is a process my g/fs dad has done for me and hes a body shop manager at a ford dealership, and has been for 25 years, just to let you know my sources. |
