Junkyards - HAULN-SS - 04-07-2005

Are there any yards around here that let you go pull parts or anything?

- Mike - 04-07-2005

There is a smallish one out on 33W. Most of their stuff was older domestic piles. It was dirty and not in any sort of order. There is a better junkyard near Charlottesville that Maeng knows about.

French's up route 11... and there's a nother one in town, its just off main st on the north end of town - i cant remember the name, but if you go up main and make a left on liberty by the napa and then make a right at the top of the hill, its about a mile down on your left. F&K maybe?

- PDenbigh - 04-07-2005

Going out 33 East, torward Massinutten there is a decent one. They let you crawl around, pull parts as needed, and they seem pretty cool about pricing.
To get to it, take a left before a little store that is on your left as you are going out. Probably less than a mile out of town. Then make a right, then a left, and they are at the dead end of that road.
Those directions suck, so froma quick glance in the yellowpages, I believe it was Crawford's. 424-3227, and they can give you better directions.

They have honda parts there?

The one by Charlottesville is call M&M's. F&K is the one on the north side of town though they don't have much in the way of imports. French's i burned down a while back. They're operating out of a shack now.

also curious as to this

any vw part junkyards? (cue Blair :winkSmile

- Jeff - 04-07-2005

There are several I know of. French's is a good one for newer stuff, they got rid of most of their older stuff. Their prices are high. There is a guy in Woodstock who has a smallish mostly 80's one (used to have an Omni GLH and a Merkur!!).

My personal favorite is in Winchester off of rt50 called G&G auto salvage. They rock. Good prices and they separate all the cars by make. All the fords here, HONDAS here, VWs here...its quite nice. They price really well too. Got a whole Sebring limited interior for like $80. Neon door for $100. Lumina z38 hoodvents for $30. I need to go down there again soon.

- Jeff - 04-07-2005

Another note on G&G. They can tell you what they have, itÔÇÖs all in the computer. However if you want say, the hood vents off of a Z38, you need to just make sure they have a "Lumina" and just say you need to look for interior parts. I called them on and off for about a year asking if they had any and the response was always no, I finally just went and looked and there they were. Small stuff is not recorded. They do however seem to know what is wrong with each car and why it is there, the records are well kept.

- BLAIR - 04-08-2005

i got to hilllside in broadway. they are int he phonebook (have everything from a 1940 cadilac to VWs of all years and even a blue civic si. very cheep and you go in and explore and pull parts yourself.. i got some cool gold mesh wheels with polished lip for drifting for 40 bucks with tires

also there is another one.. (2 letter name) out in elkton.. i go on port republic all the way to the town of port republic.. the road ends at a T take a left and its about 3 or 4 miles on the left. they are also cool and have all kinds of cars. got some good stuff there for dirt cheep too

- Chris - 04-08-2005
