Then maybe you wont be dumb like me. I left the windows and sunroof open on my bimmer the other day after a bike ride because I was being lazy. It then thunderstormed. All. ffing. Night. I didnt have a chance to pull up the carpet and clean underneath it until this afternoon.......

Luckily, E36 carpet has about 1" of foam underneath it. Foam also does a fantastic job of retaining water, which made this job so much fun. I got *most* of the water out of the carpet sponge, sprayed a bunch of febreeze under/on the carpet and I'm hoping for the best. I soaked 6 huge towells and about 20 small ones.

That said, the interior of the E36 is one of the most poorly excecuted pieces of automotive engineering of the 20th century. The way the panels are fit together and fastened rivals something that was built by Chrysler (sorry Jeff). I'm never taking another E36 interior apart unless its to gut one for a cage and rip the ffing panels clear off their goddamn screws in a rage of anger. I oughtta sell this shit box and buy an E30 (shut up evan).

The upside of today's project - I drove to NC after the F1 race and picked up a newer pair of front seats (luxo-plush crap out of a 328is) and passenger door panel that doesnt look like shit. The drivers seat is out of whack though :hammer: I'm going to try and fix it... the guy I bought it from runs a small junkyard of sorts and gave me an idea to try, otherwise he said he's got another seat that isnt busted.

- Ryan T - 04-04-2005

looks like tons of fun.

- ScottyB - 04-04-2005

whoa, that sucks man. at least you caught it before the really warm months. i can't imagine how nasty it would be if it started to heat up in there with that water sitting around.

- christo - 04-04-2005

genius

- Mike - 04-04-2005

you're a fucking idiot.

- Sijray21 - 04-04-2005

that sux

atleast it's not as bad as when my neighbor went away for a week, left his sunroof open, and the remninces of a hurricane hit his altima with full force. His dash was warped and there was clearly atleast 2 inches of water throughout the floor boards. Hope it all works out for ya.

Oh man, there goes the resale value.

- Mike - 04-04-2005

not really, since it appears he did a good job drying it up.

- Rex4life - 04-04-2005

it looks like a good reason to gut the car to me

- Chris - 04-04-2005

you tear up everything.

On that note, I'll be leaving now for class- a place to learn about rolling up windows

- Evan - 04-04-2005

it wouldnt be quite so funny if he hadnt done the exact same thing to his saturn when he parked it at my house a while ago

- Jeff - 04-04-2005

When I had my Lebaron I left it top down in the rain once. I ran out and put the top up and drove to the garage (Woodstock Garage) and spent about an hour drying it out. fun fun...I feel sorry for the bimmer.

- Ginger - 04-04-2005

I did that to my saturn while at JMU also. Twice. The first time I left my keys with Matt and he had already left JMU....

- Nick325is - 04-04-2005

Same thing happened to my 325is a couple years ago when it was at the body shop. The bastards left one of my windows down and neglected to tell me. I found out when I got in the car and the carpets squished. Confusedhock:
