Start Saving! - Mike - 03-29-2005 You're going to want one after watching this video of the Ariel Atom. 80mb: http://www.cas.uc.edu/~smithmd/TopGear/TopGearAtom.wmv - G.Irish - 03-29-2005 How much dem things cost? - Mike - 03-29-2005 20k pounds... i think that is like 38k USD? - Evan - 03-29-2005 shit I wonder how it compares to a Radical? - ScottyB - 03-29-2005 Evan Wrote:shit i bet they're probably equal in a straight line, but the rad probably has the edge in corners, especially at higher speeds. i love the part in that movie when Clarkson hit the apex just right, and then starts laughing hysterically...makes me crack up every time. - G.Irish - 03-29-2005 There was a Top Gear (or maybe it was 5th gear) where they compared the two and the Radical won by a little bit. I'm not sure which Radical it was but I think it came down to downforce and drag. - .RJ - 03-29-2005 Radical has downforce :fire: I need one. - Mike - 03-29-2005 the radical can't be driven to the track :fire: - JackoliciousLegs - 03-29-2005 lol... :fire: ... - Evan - 03-29-2005 Mike Wrote:the radical can't be driven to the track :fire:Radical SR4 is street legal in the UK just like the Atom (err..A70M ? ) and you arent driving either one to the track in the US. Prices are similar, although I think a Radical is going to end up being more expensive. Radical has the big advantage of being competitive in a racing class (DSR) as well as a dedicated race series, enduro series, and dedicated track days. And since Radical has been making track cars for a good while longer, Im willing to bet they have the bugs worked out, and have a better support structure (as well as R&D) although Im just not sure if I could train my brain that, if you loose grip in a corner, you should go faster hock:
- .RJ - 03-29-2005 Everything I've heard is the Radicals are not very competitive CSR/DSR cars at a national level..... And some guy in Nevada managed to get one registered out there Not sure if its the guy from Radical West or not.
- Evan - 03-29-2005 against the big national machinery, they are a bit heavy, but the point is you can race one, in a major national club class. They may not podium consistently, but looking at the race results on the website, they have put in quite a few wins. And then there is the track days and Radical race series The Atom is an anomoly, Ive heard of some race series developing in the UK, but nothing much else. And it definately doesnt fit into any SCCA classes. - WRXtranceformed - 03-29-2005 I think the supercharged Atom, the really fast one, costs more in the 58-60k USD range. Pretty sick car, if I had to buy a car only for track use, it would be that. - G.Irish - 03-29-2005 For 60k I'm buying one of these:

Now that's disrespectful. - JackoliciousLegs - 03-29-2005 lol... as moderator, I encourage more clean discussions like this one...
