New Car for the mom? - Sijray21 - 03-24-2005 Hey guys, just thought i'd throw this out there. Currently my mom has a 1999 BMW Z3 2.8L She's looking to get another small (2-seater), convertible sports car. Her lease runs out in June and she's planning on either buying out this car (has around 60K miles) or getting another car. She is looking to purchase this one instead of leasing it now. The only cars she really doesn't like and will not get are the z4 and miata. Which car do you think she should look into? I'm obviously helping out her decision and going with her to get her other car whenever she gets it. The only car i could think of that would be different would be another z3 (newer with less mileage) or a porsche boxter or boxter S. She likes the idea of the boxter S. She wants to spend $300/month (unrealistic for what she wants IMO). If she could find an M Roadster that is reasonably priced she will buy it. Ideas? - ViPER1313 - 03-24-2005 REALLY LONG ASS LINK EDIT - the private party value of a 99 is 18-19k dollars, my bad. EDIT by Jack - please format your links appropriately :-) ... especially if they're 1,436,473 characters long - Chris - 03-24-2005 M roadster or Boxster S. Either one is a good choice. - Rex4life - 03-24-2005 s2000? - JackoliciousLegs - 03-24-2005 tell her to wait for the new 7... or just buy an M roadster/boxter s - Rex4life - 03-24-2005 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:tell her to wait for the new 7 it's bs - G.Irish - 03-24-2005 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:tell her to wait for the new 7... or just buy an M roadster/boxter s She might be taking retirment by then...hell, WE might be taking retirement by then... - Mike - 03-24-2005 s2k or a boxster - Evan - 03-24-2005 S2k or Pontiac Solstice - ScottyB - 03-24-2005 Evan Wrote:Pontiac Solstice good call. this one shows promise, even with "only" 170 horsepower. - Evan - 03-24-2005 the *cough* Saturn rwd sportscar based on the same frame as the Solstice looks pretty good too - .RJ - 03-24-2005 lunchbox 0wnz j00 - Feersty - 03-24-2005 M Roadster would be hot, 333hp. That is definitely my vote and a logical progression from the Z3. - Mike - 03-24-2005 rob and his logical progressions... never seem to amaze. - Sijray21 - 03-24-2005 Feersty Wrote:M Roadster would be hot, 333hp. That is definitely my vote and a logical progression from the Z3. 315bhp for the '01 and '02, but 'only' 240bhp for the '98 - '00 models :? they are pretty affordable though, they're roughly around the $19k mark for the earlier models it would be a cool car to drive, i totally forgot about this car until someone brought it up
- Ryan T - 03-24-2005 vert corvette? If not, my vote would be for the M roadster. - .RJ - 03-24-2005 theguywiththeSi Wrote:they are pretty affordable though, they're roughly around the $19k mark for the earlier models Good call. //M roadster > s2k
- Nick325is - 03-24-2005 I would go with the M roadster. Having spent alot of time driving the one my dad has its certainly a blast to drive. The 240hp that car has is more than enough for most people. One can be had with decent mileage for mid to high 20s. Look around low 30s if you get a low mileage one. Nick - BLINGMW - 03-25-2005 haha, first off, your mom's pretty cool! 8) 2nd, she is considering buying the 2.8 she has? That seems like the way I'd go, and 60k miles is nothing. For the street, I don't know what the point of the MZ3 would be. Does she goto the drag strip, track, or canyon runs or something? It would just use more gas, and the rear suspension of those things (E30!) was never designed for near 300HP. Hello snap oversteer! - Nick325is - 03-25-2005 Hence why i say 240 is enough. Snap oversteeer happens real quick in that car. Nick |
