This is a cool little concept. Can you imagine the possibilities with b00st or one of the more powerful BMW engines (E46 M3, 540i power)? Who knows, maybe an LS1 would fit in there...

doesnt the base-stripper model 3 series start at $26k?

I know it did a couple years ago, of course bmw could have raised their prices

Yeah it starts somewhere around there. But that price is equipped as well as a Civic DX. So I'm thinking a well equipped 130 will cost between 27 and 33ish.

Well, it depends on what you're comparing it to. For entry level luxury its not bad, although the G35 or TSX may be better buys feature-wise. I kinda wonder what the 1-series lineup will look like for the USDM. Maybe they'd be smarter to offer a 125i that would cost between $23 and $28 or something like that.

it just doesnt look sporty or agressive enough, just like BMW's first try at a hatchback in the US.
Mercedes got their hatch right. Good looking sporty car, good interior, peppy (b00sted) engine, 6speed, and priced well. I just dont see this car comparing to the C hatch.

Evo did a review on the 1-series a few months back... lemme see if i can find it. IIRC, they werent terribly impressed with it for the $$.

the reason the 1 isn't coming to US market is because of MINI combined with the attitude of bigger is better for cars.

The 1-series is coming to these shores and the good news is that it's packing a diesel but the better news is that it's the twin turbo I-6 out of the 335I. YAY.

Considering the 135 weighs a lot less than the 335i and the 335i runs a low 13 sec 1/4 miles I dont think it will be a problem.

What was the point of that post anyways....

Not so far, in the 1 series. Just the 116d and the 120d. Both 4 cylinders.
