A little more info on the BMW 1-Series - G.Irish - 02-23-2005 http://www.webwombat.com.au/motoring/ne ... w-130i.htm Quote:Outputting of 190kW (258hp) and 300Nm of torque, combined with an expected kerb weight of under 1300kg, performance figures of 0-100km/h in 6.2 seconds make for interesting reading, while BMW's de rigueur top speed (limited to 250km/h) is actually pretty quick for a hatchback car, so no complaints about the electronic speed limiting this time. This thing is shaping up quite nicely. The 120i weighs about 2772 so the 130i shouldn't weigh a whole lot more. On price I'm betting it will be somewhere between $27k and $33k. Maybe the 4-cylinder could come in at under $27k but this is BMW we're talking about so I wouldn't hold my breadth. This is a cool little concept. Can you imagine the possibilities with b00st or one of the more powerful BMW engines (E46 M3, 540i power)? Who knows, maybe an LS1 would fit in there... I hope this car can finally show what BMW is capable of with a light platform. They haven't had a light car since the E30.[/url] - Evan - 02-23-2005 doesnt the base-stripper model 3 series start at $26k? I know it did a couple years ago, of course bmw could have raised their prices This seems to be more of a 24-25k car to me - G.Irish - 02-24-2005 Yeah it starts somewhere around there. But that price is equipped as well as a Civic DX. So I'm thinking a well equipped 130 will cost between 27 and 33ish. - BLINGMW - 02-24-2005 too bad they're putting that active steering crap in there. :x I'm fully prepared to hate on all the new BMW's, but if this thing really comes in under 2800lbs, I'll give 'em a nod for that. - Mike - 02-24-2005 that isn't much car for ~30k... for 30+ the japs get my money. - G.Irish - 02-24-2005 Mike Wrote:that isn't much car for ~30k... for 30+ the japs get my money. Well, it depends on what you're comparing it to. For entry level luxury its not bad, although the G35 or TSX may be better buys feature-wise. I kinda wonder what the 1-series lineup will look like for the USDM. Maybe they'd be smarter to offer a 125i that would cost between $23 and $28 or something like that. - Evan - 02-24-2005 it just doesnt look sporty or agressive enough, just like BMW's first try at a hatchback in the US. Mercedes got their hatch right. Good looking sporty car, good interior, peppy (b00sted) engine, 6speed, and priced well. I just dont see this car comparing to the C hatch. - Nick325is - 02-24-2005 Pure garbage Nick Who will be sticking to older bmws - bassmangrammy - 02-24-2005 Evan Wrote:it just doesnt look sporty or agressive enough, just like BMW's first try at a hatchback in the US. I like the girls that drive the C230Ks...hott hott ho(tt) - Sijray21 - 02-24-2005 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ...i dunno i would still definitely get the mazda 3 5-door before the 1 series... :? however a 6 cyl under the hood would be nice
- .RJ - 02-24-2005 Evo did a review on the 1-series a few months back... lemme see if i can find it. IIRC, they werent terribly impressed with it for the $$. - Feersty - 02-24-2005 It is still not coming here, so why all it shoulda been this shoulda been that talk? - bassmangrammy - 02-24-2005 the reason the 1 isn't coming to US market is because of MINI combined with the attitude of bigger is better for cars. - Andy - 01-17-2007 The 1-series is coming to these shores and the good news is that it's packing a diesel but the better news is that it's the twin turbo I-6 out of the 335I. YAY. http://www.autoblog.com/2007/01/17/its-on-bmw-1-series-coming-to-the-u-s-in-135i-guise/ - CaptainHenreh - 01-17-2007 Andy Wrote:The 1-series is coming to these shores and the good news is that it's packing a diesel but the better news is that it's the twin turbo I-6 out of the 335I. YAY. Huh. Well whaddaya know. The 1 Series is a concept I really like. I hope BMW can pull it off well. - BLINGMW - 01-17-2007 huh! Well that seems cool, where'd it say anything about a diesel though? - Feersty - 01-17-2007 That is awesome. Hopefully it isn't too heavy so that TT 3.0 will make it scoot! - .RJ - 01-17-2007 Feersty Wrote:Hopefully it isn't too heavy so that TT 3.0 will make it scoot! Considering the 135 weighs a lot less than the 335i and the 335i runs a low 13 sec 1/4 miles I dont think it will be a problem. What was the point of that post anyways.... - Andy - 01-17-2007 BLINGMW Wrote:huh! Well that seems cool, where'd it say anything about a diesel though? I ASSume that the twin turbo i-6 is the same one in the 335i which is a diesel. - CaptainHenreh - 01-17-2007 Andy Wrote:BLINGMW Wrote:huh! Well that seems cool, where'd it say anything about a diesel though? Not so far, in the 1 series. Just the 116d and the 120d. Both 4 cylinders. |
