project car - the rebirth of a 92 cx - navin - 02-23-2005

So finally got motivated to start working on my new project, purchased from a friend on honda-tech.

First the basics - 92 CX, 80k miles, 1 owner - still a baby..

And I wanted to document the money I spend on the car/and have a pictorial of it, thought some peeps on MM might appreciate it. (and John whores the Z out too Tongue)

And why I am building this car, well some might know my old red, ugly hatch got totalled by that stupid GA driver. So found this, and scooped it up. (sold my 5-lug + wheels for what the car was worth)

This weekend I plan on..

- black dash installed
- airbag block off fabrication
- OMP steering wheel + momo hub install
- ITR rear sway + Beaks reinforment install

thats all for now folks!

driver's seat! i win!

oh yeah, car looks good man. diggin the color and wheels too, thats a nice combo. are you keepin the engine stock for now?

- navin - 02-23-2005

the CX motor stays till emissions time, if you look closely in the 2nd picture under the plastic covering you can see the old hooptie motor..

I am slowly working on buying some misc. gaskets for it and trying to figure out where my idle problem is. After that it gets dropped into the new hatch..

I'll hopefully be doing a pictorial how-to just for chits and giggles, but taking apart a Honda is just like lego's anyway..

please do. i always love reading time lines of a car's restoration/modification.

Cool deal man. Looking forward to it Smile Which, incidentally, reminds me of the Z. Just kidding Wink

- navin - 02-23-2005

Yeah, reminds me of the Z too... sans 2 turbos, but it is a two seater now...

anyone notice those show kaa trophies in the back, i'll be taking home the MM car show tropphy

that is the third pic.

airbag blockoff? what the hell is that?

- navin - 02-23-2005

whoops - third pic..

I am just making something out of sheetmetal to cover the empty space of the airbag..

93 + dashes = passenger side airbag..

I am gay and putting the black dash into the new car, i hate the grey interior...

- Mike - 02-23-2005

ahhh ahh gotcha, make sense then... passenger side Smile

- Feersty - 02-24-2005

Yeah Navin, heavily document it with pictures I would like to see the progression.

- Mike - 02-24-2005

rob like pictures.... a lot.... a scary amount lot...

- navin - 02-24-2005

w00t for pix

- navin - 03-30-2005

recent update, no pix as my hosting thing went down and I haven't really taken any pix..

1. tip money rawks
2. jdm importers are quite dumb, conned them into selling me a full GSR brake swap for $200 [minus MC + proportioning valve]
3. Dealership hookups on parts is a great perk..

pix to come soon, weather is getting nice and its time to stop boozing..

- Mike - 03-30-2005

paul told me you were selling?

- Andy - 03-30-2005

.

who was this?

- christo - 03-30-2005

japanstar in manassasss ?

- navin - 03-31-2005

yeah, Japan Star... sometimes its too easy. I also got them to throw in a Momo-esque steering wheel for my friends DA that had an integra hub already on there for $10.

I picked it up out of a dust pile, haha..

And Mike, I am thinking about selling it because I'm not really that motivated to get the car done, or pursue any motorsports activites that much more...

but then I got a bunch of OEM parts in today, and that makes me feel all giddy inside

- Mike - 03-31-2005

i'll buy your seat.
