Tires yo - JackoliciousLegs - 02-07-2005 Well, I need some new street tires.. i.e. cheap is best. 205/55 16s. I need very good wet traction. Blue Ridge quoted me 80/tire for Gillette concept h rated. Or 90 on some BF Goodrich's that are V rated (i believe). Should I do something else? I'm leaning toward the BFGs... - JohnC - 02-07-2005 Are you looking for all-season type tires? Or something slightly performance oriented? Tirerack has a bunch of performance-ish tires for under $90/each... http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... 055ZR6GFSP http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... =055WR6ZRI http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... 55VR6ES712 - Mike - 02-07-2005 tirerack has all the reviews your could need and prices that are 2x better than br tire. - ViPER1313 - 02-07-2005 This is a better deal, and the $10 per tire saved will pay for mounting, although there will be a shipping charge. Do you want summer tires or all seasons? Are you planning on going to an autoX on these tires or do you want maximum treadlife? In my experience tires are not something you want to cheap out on. My cousin wrecked his car in the winter because he stubbornly bought summer tires for all season use. My friend rear-ended someone because the cheap tires on his Grand-Am had the traction of hardened plastic. Tires have the biggest impact on the way your car handles; 100-200 extra dollars every 2 years might save you thousands in body shop work. - .RJ - 02-07-2005 I've been happy w/ the Yok ES100's on my Blingmw - Mike - 02-07-2005 .RJ Wrote:I've been happy w/ the Yok ES100's on my Blingmw very good tires. - Maengelito - 02-07-2005 anyone need some 225/45/17 off my STi? - Nick325is - 02-07-2005 I love my yoko es100s. Very predictable tire. Maeng your STI is growing tires now....you might want to get that looked at  Nick - JackoliciousLegs - 02-07-2005 well, 90 mounted for the BFGs don't sound too bad. I think I might do that. I just need tires that will do me ok in the snow. tire rack isn't much cheaper and I'll have to pay shipping and mounting. PS, the ES100s sound like great summer tires. I need something that will let me move in the snow. - JackoliciousLegs - 02-07-2005 I can get 205/55VR16 Yokohama Avid V4S for 90 shipped a piece on tire rack. V-Rated high performance all seasons. If BR can match that (a V rated tire for 90 mounted), I'll just do that. more importantly, is there anywhere else in HBurg I can check for tires? - .RJ - 02-07-2005 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:I need something that will let me move in the snow. I didnt have any problems in the slush mess we got here. Buy something on tirerack and have them mounted in the 'burg for $10/tire. - Maengelito - 02-07-2005 buy them! http://www.mmsports.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1771 - ViPER1313 - 02-07-2005 Maengelito Wrote:buy them! Unless Jack can magically mount your 17in tires on his 16in rims I don't see why he would want your tires. Edit - For $70 a pop the Kuhmo ASX Ultra High Performance All-Seasons I listed are very highly rated in wet, snow and dry (slightly below the top in class PZero Neros and well above any of BF Goodrich's offerings,) get great consumer feedback and are W rated (168mph) $280 + $35 shipping + $40 mounting fee = $355 . 4 * $90 for the BF Goodrich = $360 . Check out what people say about them and read Tirerack's test. The Kuhmo 711's on my SHO have held up so far and handle fine in both wet and dry conditions. - ViPER1313 - 02-08-2005 Oh, if you are really looking to get tires on the cheap check ebay and your RX7 message boards - I picked up a set of used snow tires with 9/10s of the tread remaining for a third of the price Tirerack was selling them for. - ScottyB - 02-08-2005 ViPER1313 Wrote:Oh, if you are really looking to get tires on the cheap check ebay. although it's risky its definitely worth a shot. when i was shopping for 17's for my modas i stumbled across the michelin pilots i have on them now. got all 4 (in a very rare size no less), with more than half the tread left, for a little over 200 bucks shipped. if the seller is reputable you could find some smoking deals. - JackoliciousLegs - 02-08-2005 Items shipping from Newark, Delaware BY UPS GROUND Tires Item Description Qty.
