I hate pigs, and this is how I'm going to get even. - Andy - 01-02-2005 I was pulled over on 81-S at 9:35 tonight near Woodstock by Officer Miller. Not for speeding, not for reckless behavior but for illegal exhaust. Officer Miller was sitting on the rightside grass while I was driving by on the left lane going 78mph, and that craphead wants to tell me my exhaust was too loud. So, I'm going to ask my friend who's a sound technician for Southard Audio to take decibel readings from a stock prelude, and my prelude, and bring it to court, and rape officer miller w/ it. And I don't mean figuratively, I'm actually going to stick the paperwork up his ass. Sounds like a plan to me. I've gotten 5 non-speeding tickets in the last 2.5 weeks. All for some dumb stuff. Travis in his loud ass Eclipse sped by me in front of a cop, and I got pulled over. Sounds like a plan to me....yes. sounds like a plan....wtf? what's with the analness of exhausts? - CaptainHenreh - 01-03-2005 The analness of exhaust: It's a (practically) unfightable ticket, it's easy to write, and it allows law enforcement to harass car enthusiasts without having to worry about repercussions. Unjust laws breed harassment and prejudice. Good luck, Andy. - BLINGMW - 01-03-2005 this is getting stupid. You guys need to set that town ablaze to give them something else to think about for a minute. Decibel readings also have to be done according to SAE standards (J1169), but that would be if we even had a law like that, like California does. Guess who is largely responsible for that? SEMA. Your better off having the club members join SEMA, and contact your legislator to complain, and suggest a SEMA sponsored bill. In fact, I have a copy of a bill that could be used in va that Steve McDonald from SEMA sent me. - Dave - 01-03-2005 Officer Miller. Hmmmmm, that one sounds familiar; I think he pulled me over for the same thing sometime this year. Granted its possible its a different guy, but the fact that he was sitting on the interstate near Woodstock leads me to think it is not just pure coincidence. Easiest way to get out of that ticket is to simply tell the judge that it is a factory exhaust and there is nothing done to it. Unless he took a picture of it or took measurements and recorded it down, he'll have no way to fight it; innocent until proven guilty. - KPWSerpiente - 01-03-2005 I don't have to guess...I know Officer Miller pulled me over for the same thing mid last semester. Same MO and all. Hope it goes well Andy. -T - Chris - 01-03-2005 jeez I can't even keep up with all your tickets! Would you ever put back the stock exhaust to save yourself the hassle of tickets?? - Mike - 01-03-2005 BLINGMW Wrote:You guys need to set that town ablaze to give them something else to think about for a minute. we tried my freshman year... miller is the same one who nailed me last year for the same thing... only way to win is to bring in a receipt from a muffler shop saying you got a new one installed. - Andy - 01-03-2005 Dave Wrote:Officer Miller. This is the third time Miller has pulled my over, not once for speeding. I'm sure you know him, he's the young looking dude. I don't think perjuring myself is necesarily a good idea. I bought the car from a ricer so I never had a stock exhaust. If I have paperwork that says my car is 50 state legal and actual testing that says my exhaust is as quiet as my stock exhaust and tell the judge that officer bunghole couldn't have possibly heard the difference while I was going 78 mph and he was sitting on the side of the road, why can't I "get away with it." It's completely arbitrary thing. He said that any exhaust system that didn't come from the factory is illegal but in that case, any exhaust that any parts store sells is illegal. - white_2kgt - 01-03-2005 jackstands Wrote:Dave Wrote:Officer Miller. So when the mufflers on my 89 mustang fell off on the interstate at 60mph and I pulled into the nearest mineke and had them weld in new ones that was illegal  stupid me, should have left them open headers. --chad - Mike - 01-03-2005 as dumb as the law is, yes chad, that was illegal. that is what killed me about the law when i was preparing my case. in the end i realized it was unbeatable, but luckily i had a new muffler on the way that sounds pretty close to stock in normal driving. - mpg9999 - 01-03-2005 jackstands Wrote:Dave Wrote:Officer Miller. It probably states that its 50 state emmisions legal. The va law is very subjective, but yes, your exhaust is still illegal. See my first post for what to do about it. - bluhayz - 01-03-2005 Probably shouldn't tell them you were going 78 MPH either.... - KPWSerpiente - 01-03-2005 Quote: as dumb as the law is, yes chad, that was illegal. that is what killed me about the law when i was preparing my case. in the end i realized it was unbeatable, but luckily i had a new muffler on the way that sounds pretty close to stock in normal driving.
