Job - damnit458 - 12-11-2004

Anybody in the NOVA area know anyone or work for anybody that could use help over the holidays? Ive tried about four different places, including quiznos where I used to work, and they all have already hired/dont need anybody. I cant afford to go through the break without a job, and im willing to work anyhours whatsoever. I can get anywhere the metro or VRE goes. Thanks.

Edit: Ive also tried looking at department stores/UPS but they all hired earlier.

LOL haha. Ive applied at a few bestbuys, and I went ahead and applied at a few stores inside the mall near me. Thus far ive pretty much gotten the same reply, which is if im only working for a month they dont need me.

most likely..

seasonal hires were done at the beginging of thanksgiving to prepare for black friday..

hrmm, try "Things Remembered" in the mall, just tell em you know how to engrave chit..

They are really backed up, my friend is going back for the season too, so who knows they might hook you up too..

sell christmas trees.

- LorenaBeana - 12-12-2004

Um, Ulta is hiring, but um, I kinda don't think that would be your first pick (it's salon/cosmetic/fragrance, etc). Other than that, I'll keep my eye out! Oh..you could always work at a Christmas tree farm until the 25th!

Restaurant jobs. I always made over $3k in the 4-5 week xmas break.

Get ready to work 12 hrs, 5 days a week... even in a chithole like chilis or fridays you can make good $$.

- Mike - 12-12-2004

moral of the story: don't wait, apply for jobs when you're home for thanksgiving (or even earlier).

Very few restaurants will hire somebody just for the holiday break since it takes time to train the servers. Plus places like Mike's want long-term commitment and rarely hire anybody without a good amount of experience...

John, who worked at Mike's and Artie's for 3 years...
