For a club that is so concerned about it's image, and being taken seriously, I don't think these are the right kinds of attitudes to have about an event such as this. Illegal + Unsanctioned = BAD. - .paul - 12-07-2004 drifting the art of burning rubber. - BLINGMW - 12-07-2004 Dragon Wrote:For a club that is so concerned about it's image, and being taken seriously, I don't think these are the right kinds of attitudes to have about an event such as this. Illegal + Unsanctioned = BAD. just because some of the members think it looked like a good time, doesn't mean it has to do anything with the club. He shared some pics. And if anything, I applaud them for doing it in a fairly safe location and keeping it off the streets. They made it a risk to only those involved, and any damage done was only to their cars. Maybe a drainage ditch and a few weeds were disturbed. Can't ask for much more than that. If they wanted to personally take on the risk of the cops coming down on them instead of making it a legal and more costly event, that's their decision. It looks like fun to me too. ![]() - Dragon - 12-07-2004 BLINGMW Wrote:just because some of the members think it looked like a good time, doesn't mean it has to do anything with the club. I'm confused, maybe there's a grey area I'm not seeing here. Also by your logic I guess a street race at 3am on a deserted road is ok too? I'm not trying to pick a fight with ya Chan, I'm just pointing out past history and trying to figure out why one thing is ok and another isn't in the eyes of members. - Evan - 12-07-2004 Chan do you remember very early in the life of the club when we recognized that the actions of our members in any vehicle, at any time would reflect directly on the club. We even talked about disciplinary action against members who got excessive speeding tickets, or were seen jackassing around campus in their cars. edit: this is a response to chan's post, not response to this particular event - Dragon - 12-07-2004 I do realize that Yellow didn't actually drive in the event since he said so earlier in this post, but his support of it, and subsequent posting of pictures in the MM forum links MM to it (based on historical opinions). Additional posts by members on the forum showing support or elation about the event itself further complicates the issue. As I said I'm not trying to pick a fight here, just pointing something out. |
