A few Questions on stuff to buy... - Jeff - 12-02-2004

1. Should I buy snow tires and trash my Michelin X-4's or keep them. (on the Sebring)
1A- If I buy, what brand?

2. Is anyone in the club interested in shooting and/or guns?

3. (THE BIG QUESTION) What car-cover should I buy for the Sebring? Mom is making me park outside now! I was looking a Wolf Automotive car covers.

- Chris - 12-02-2004

do you really need snow tires? it can't be that bad in FWD, plus it doesn't snow that much.

also, do you really need a car cover? is the car not driven often?

- CaptainHenreh - 12-02-2004

1. If you've got a decent pair of all-seasons, you don't need no steeeking snow tires. But if you've got some high performance jobbies, you should have three sets of wheels and tires. 1 for track, one for summer, and one for winter. Or better yet, 3 cars.

2. I like firearms.

3. Uh, car cover? Do you have one of those like, Ferrari Sebrings?

- WRXtranceformed - 12-02-2004

I found a pretty decent car cover on ebay for like $40. It's waterproof, dustproof, etc etc.... made for my car and has a bag for it too ! heh

Even if you're looking for an expensive one, I'd try looking there first... you can definitely find some cheaper prices, generally.

Snow tires are well worth the $$ if you can find them used Smile

I'd be interested in shooting some stuff.

don't allow mike to be involved in anything destructive...

- Jeff - 12-02-2004

The car is not driven at all accept on weekends...and it sets out all the time. I have all-seasons on the factory rims so I guess they will work fine. The Wolf cover I was looking at is like $184, but it is beyond premium. I have a neighbor who uses one on his 99' Maxima (Stillen supercharged V6). ItÔÇÖs just such a nice cover, but I will check on E-bay for a cheaper one, and some used snow tires.

My gun question is kinda specific, but I'm sure one of you crazies will know the answer. I wanna get a Romanian AK-47 for target and hunting. With a 30rnd mag itÔÇÖs more for targets thought. My question is what is the difference between pre-ban and post-ban assault rifles? Is there anyone who thinks an AR-15 (colt) is better then the AK for the money, the AK only about $350 with three mags and 500rnds of ammo. I can't find any answers on the net, so I figure you guys always have an opinion, thatÔÇÖs another reason why I love this club...

Some decent info was discussed in this thread:

And yes, I also enjoy firearms Smile

Should I revive that post of hang with this one on the question? Mongooze, I didn't really get to meet you last night (you were there right?), so Hi...What do you think about the AK?

Jess and I were there last night, second row on the right.

As for the AK - I've never seriously looked into them before. Parts are cheap and plentiful, they've been made forever, and you'd fit right in if the Taliban invade and take over.

wtf! i'll bust a cap in yo ass nukkah! i'm destructive when i drink. i don't drink and play with guns... butttt yeah, i can see where you're coming from Tongue

down at school i went shooting all the time. i don't own anything (well, technically i own an old sks because my friend didn't bring money to the gun show), but my friends have an array of things. i was also in rotc so i got to shoot some cool shit there.

yeah, i like guns.

- Kaan - 12-02-2004

AK = pooh pooh

its notoriously inacurate... and dont worry about the parts cause the only good thing is it was cheap to make and doesnt break.... i would NEVER use one to hunt with... but to defend my home... i would use it.

i love guns... i was back to back VA Glock shoot out champ.

- Jeff - 12-02-2004

Thanks Kaan, I was just saying hunting so I could justify having one, I just want a toy! Glocks are nice guns, I've never fired one, but I would like to. I have a 1911 and I enjoy that to the max. The only AR-15 I could find cheap was still like 600+. I'm gonna hit a gun show over the break (x-mas) and see where it goes from there. I like the AK alot thought, they feel good to hold, even though they are just stamped out. M-16/AR-15 have to much plastic in them, I have a friend that has an AK and a AR-15 and for feel in my opinion, cheaper for once is better. The Colt shoots better and you can tell the quality but a wood stock and a 30rnd mag (or even a 175rnd drum) make it for me.

- Kaan - 12-02-2004

stay in H-burg for the gun shows... picked up a cheap DE .50 that i sold for double what i paid.... and i was so tempted to get that Uzi for 180.... hell i might go back to the burg for gun shows... cause they are way cheaper than nova... you need an SKS for hunting... i know they just got bad publicity for the guy using a SKS to kill fellow hunters. BUT in all honestly, they are accurate, reliable, and powerful...

i love my glock... its the most reliable hand gun i've ever had. they do need to be broken in... no matter what anyone tells you.

OH, btw, i just use all seasons for "snow" tires.

That will be my next purchase. Which manufacturer/model?

- Kaan - 12-02-2004

if you shoot a glock, you learn to love the single action all the time feel... but after a glock i would go with a H&K USP .45....

- CaptainHenreh - 12-02-2004

Speaking of firearms, does anyone want to buy my revolver?

- Jeff - 12-02-2004

My 1911 is a Colt Government issue Model of 1911, the original browning design. I love the gun to death. .45 7rnd Mags, full size frame. 1940's manufacture. My next purchase (after the AK/other assault rifle) will be a Wilson Combat tactical 1911. What is an SKS, I'm gonna search it right now, but what makes that weapon so good?
