motor mounts - Maengelito - 11-29-2004 so christina needs a new rear motor mount. i dont know a whole lot about motor mounts, so i'm wondering what my choices are and the pros and cons of those choices. from waht i understand after my 10 minutes of research, mounts with rubber inserts prevent the car from shaking and rattling while solid mounts prevent the engine and tranny from moving. any and all info would help. thanks! -b - .RJ - 11-29-2004 If its busted, a set of poly inserts will "fix" the problem. Either way you need to pull the mount out. Jack up the bellhousing a bit, then pull it out - its a bitch.... 1 19mm rear, 2 or 3 19mm on the front of the mount. - Andy - 11-29-2004 I don't know about B motors, but H motor rear mounts are a beeyatch. Helms also says to replace those mount bolts. I have poly inserts and they're not bad. The vibration issue that some talk about isn't noticeable but then again, I never drove the car with the inserts. |
