What a sick f'ing joke... - Mike - 11-23-2004 So one of my rear calipers is seized... Bleh! I head to Advance to pick up a reman'd caliper today, get home, open the box, and what do I see? Very funny Chad... I double checked the numbers on the box, gonna have to fit it up to see if it is identical to the OEM Honda caliper (I assume it is)... I'm going to have an f'ing Ford part on my car!!! BLASPHEMOUS! - white_2kgt - 11-23-2004 bahhhhhahahahahahahah, maybe now you can keep up w/ me ![]() --chad - Evan - 11-23-2004 now thats some funny shit right there - BLINGMW - 11-23-2004 hock: wow.... is it like really really heavy for no apparent reason?
- Mike - 11-23-2004 i'll be sure to weigh it against what is on there now... that is, after i shave off the ford insignia ![]() i now wonder what ford it came off of... probe maybe? - Evan - 11-24-2004 just curious, how much was it? - Mike - 11-24-2004 $76 + $35 core... so $76. - KPWSerpiente - 11-24-2004 I've seen Motorcraft parts listed for Hondas before while on the job at advance. No biggie. -T - Mike - 11-25-2004 the biggie is a ford logo on my car!
- KPWSerpiente - 11-25-2004 Must be at least 20 more foot lbs of torque. At the wheel. -T - Mike - 11-25-2004 yeah, the rear wheels. - Mike - 11-25-2004 Sick joke indeed... First telltale sign that this wasn't going to work: the Ford insignia. Second telltale sign that this wasn't going to work: when I said to myself "My rear brake caliper has a piston that big? Cool!" Third telltale sign that this wasn't going to work: the e-brake mechanism is on the bottom of the caliper, not the top. Fourth telltale sign this wasn't going to work: the brake line bolt doesn't thread in to the caliper. Fifth telltale sign this wasn't going to work: my luck. Sixth and final telltale sign it wasn't going to work: got the caliper at Advance. As you can guess, the caliper isn't the right one, despite being in a box whose number matches up with 92-95 Civic Si and 94-00 Integras (the brakes I have on my car)... Grrrrrr! I love Advance and I love the people that work there... My convo with the "salesman": Me: Hey, I need 191557 and 191556. Him: Ok, let me look that up. ...give car info, find numbers match... Him: You sure you don't want loaded? Me: No, I have pads already. Him: How much did you pay for them? Me: I don't know, 50 or 60 bucks. Him: We have cheaper pads. Me: They're racing pads, I track my car. Him: Oh ok, what do you run? Me: NASA HPDE, autocrossing. Him: Right. I have a buddy that runs 10s. Me: Cool. Him: Yeah, what do you drive? Me: A Civic. Him: Haha I sold my POS Civic to a friend of mine it ran likes 18s. Me: Cool (trying to be y0 with him), mine would run low 15s or high 14s, but not much sense in drag racing a Civic, physics aren't on your side. Him: Haha you should race my buddy who runs 10s, he'd whoop you. Me: Uh yes, he would, but I prefer turns. Him: Yeah I just picked up a Mustang. I don't know what I want to do with it. I'll probably soup it up and run it at the track. Me: Cool, can I have my part now? Him: Oh yeah, what was it again? ...tell him part, he gets it, sold, done... Same guy does the same shit everytime. It has to have been over a year ago that he sold his Civic and got the Mustang... Still nothing done to it? Yeah... - Chris - 11-25-2004 hahaha- I bet Travis hears that crap all the time at advance. - .RJ - 11-25-2004 No, travis is the one telling the story about his "boy" running 10's and what he's gonna do to his car
- KPWSerpiente - 11-25-2004 But uh...I do know people who runs 10s. And 9's. In fact a 9 second Civic. I actually love talking to the guys who come in with street rods. They always have engines 3 or 4x the size of mine. I also love the guys who come in talk like I or my coworkers can't hear them..."look at that eclipse...I bet he thinks he is fast. Good thing I didn't bring my lude in or we'd have to see what is up." -T |
