It's alive. - JohnC - 11-22-2004 Finally started the Z today. First time since October 1st. Original battery didn't have enough juice to crank it over, so I pulled the Optima Redtop out of the Lightning. Cranked it several times to build up some fuel pressure. Then, I was confused as to why the damn thing would crank and run but then stumble and die within 5-10 seconds. Gave up for the evening - but around 9pm, I realized I hadn't connected the throttle body intake hoses. I guess seeing the naked throttle bodies for 2 months made me forget that there were hoses to attach there. Apparently air the ECU doesn't know about is NOT a good thing Oops. So I dragged Jess back into the garage and she helped me put the stupid intake hoses on. It fired right up and we let it run about 30 seconds. All pulleys/belts seem to be fine, the only issue was a loud ticking from the top of the engine. My suspicion (shared by .RJ and Maeng) is that the lifters haven't been properly lubricated (2 months without oil) - once the engine runs for awhile and warms up hopefully the noise will subside. We didn't let it run very long tonight because I haven't put the new radiator on - I just wanted to check things out and NOT have to drain the coolant again if something was wrong. So close to having it back on the road...Also got a new used exhaust (Stillen quad-tip) and a turbo-timer waiting to be installed, AFTER the car is running correctly in the current configuration of course  - navin - 11-22-2004 congrats John - Evan - 11-22-2004 ![]() congrats john, cant wait to see that thing out on the track
- CaptainHenreh - 11-22-2004 W00T! Fuckin' right, but didn't it run when you bought it? One twin turbo operating, another to go. - ScottyB - 11-22-2004 good stuff John, can we get a sound clip of the Stizznizzlyillin exhaust when its on? - JohnC - 11-22-2004 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Fuckin' right, but didn't it run when you bought it? Yeah, it ran really well - but it was due for a ton of maintenance. It got a bit more involved than I expected (mostly my fault for not having parts on hand - at least 3/4ths of my downtime was waiting on parts). Hopefully I'll be driving it this afternoon

Unlikely - but we'll see  - JessicaRabbit79 - 11-22-2004 Mwah hah hah hahahahahahahahahaha......... *evil laugh* Eet's alive! John just took the Z for a spin, well, a couple of spins. I could hear the tires squealing the whole way down the road. He came back with this shit-eating grin on his face, with the outraised fist of victory pumping out the drivers side window. b00st hit accomplished. w00t! - Mike - 11-22-2004 bahahah priceless - Dave - 11-22-2004 WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO Congratulations John. Glad to hear it all went as well and that you've got it running again. Maybe I'll give you a ring tomorrow afternoon on my way home for Thanksgiving  - Feersty - 11-22-2004 JessicaRabbit79 Wrote:Mwah hah hah hahahahahahahahahaha......... *evil laugh* What a great relationship, gotta love it. - JohnC - 11-23-2004 Spent this morning diagnosing (and hopefully correcting) a hunting idle issue. My TPS wasn't adjusted correctly - I tested it and set it back to spec and the problem seems to have gone away. Only time will tell though. Also fixed a leaky PS banjo bolt that was attached with the HICAS eliminator. Over the course of 2 months it almost drained my PS resevoir - hopefully the teflon tape on the bolt will stop that problem. I'll probably drive it (slowly) to work today just to see how it does - my blasts up and down our street yesterday were very encouraging
