electrical question - Sijray21 - 11-01-2004 Hey guys, Just checked out the problem with the light switch that broke a little while ago. i replaced the switch and it works fine now, but i noticed burn marks near some of the outlets that lead to the headlights. The one thing i just need clarification with is that there is continuity between ports 3 and 6; 1 and 2, that just means a constant electrical flow right? i can have a pic up later, but i don't think that really matters. the burn marks were mainly in port 3 and 6. could this happen because the foglights are continuously on with the headlights? and/or could this because i've upgraded bulbs to sylverstars with all four? right now i'm thinking of splicing out the foglights to work with the parking lights any thoughts? - white_2kgt - 11-01-2004 yes, continuity just means that an electrical current is passing though. You need to make sure the fuse that is install is of the correct amperage. If its blowing 15amps don't just put in a 20amp fuse, that will burn up your wires. If you are worried that the blubs are drawing to much current use a multimeter and check the current draw across the circuit. If it's drawing more than the system was designed to handle just install a relay, they are cheap and can be picked up at ratshack/auto store for a few bucks. moving circuits around can help but only if it doesn't draw more than the designed current. good luck, --chad - Mike - 11-02-2004 silverstars use factory wattage if i recall correctly... it is the hyperblue chrizzome fat dawg hed xenons that use more. |
