It's not that I'm against the BoSox winning, they played an amazing 8 straight games. But its more that i'm afraid that the folklore and mythology of one of the greatest sports in the world will begin to be forever changed for the worse.

Perhaps it could have been the eclipse of the moon causing some inter-cosmic change in the way that the curse was implemented. Or maybe it had to something with the number 18 and 86. The fact that the Red Sox hadnt won since the year 1918, 86 years ago, and hadnt been to the World Series in 1986, 18 years ago.

Or perhaps, it wasn't at all a fluke, a coincidence...what I fear the most. Proof that a curse, that superstition, that a belief held so vehemently by so many could possibly be incorrect. The best way to explain it, is that the Curse was Santa Clause, and the 2004 Boston Red Sox were the mean kid down the street ruining Christmas for you.

But no matter what way you slice it, every baseball fan who watched, followed or thought of the game last night, can be happy about more than they can be worried about, they witnessed history. They saw an excellent team win the grand prize. The "Idiots" as they call themselves, a group of guys who enjoy just playing the game, went through and did what every little leaguer wants to do, won the world series. But most of all, although it sucks, in my opinion it happened, they beat history, they beat the Yankees, they beat the team with the best record in baseball, and they swept away....a curse.

you know whats funny(well not for me since im a whitesox fan) both teams in chicago havnt won a WS in longer periods than the redsox b4 wed night
