Finally, my new - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 Header came in. Now im just waiting on a new motor to put it on . ![]() Look at the huge collector (3 inch) ![]() Close up of collector ![]() Big three inch secondary ![]() Gremlins growing out of the O2 bung on the secondary. ![]() ![]() EGR bung I had hotshot weld in. I dont like how far it protrudes. Will have fun with the dremel on that one. You can see they actually ground it down some already. ![]() SR20 POWER
- KPWSerpiente - 10-21-2004 Looks good. -T - Kaan - 10-21-2004 where are the pics? - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 Um, in the first post...? - .RJ - 10-21-2004 3" collector on a 4 cyl? wtf... - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 .RJ Wrote:3" collector on a 4 cyl?Yup, this header is designed for SR20's with big aftermarket cams with lots of overlap, or the SR20VE (which, has big cams up top). I already have a Gen5 Hotshot header, this is the Gen6. It will be for my VE when I get it. Here is a dyno. Its an SR20 with a Gen5, then a Gen6 with a 3 inch exhaust. Can't argue with results:
- Mike - 10-21-2004 that plot is too smooth. where's the vtec? - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 1. Nissans dont have Vtec, they have NEO VVL. 2. They dyno is not of an SR20VE, its the SR20DE with JWT cams. -Mike - .RJ - 10-21-2004 You would be better off with a long tube 4-1 header and 2.5" collector, IMHO. Ground clearance be dammed. - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 .RJ Wrote:You would be better off with a long tube 4-1 header and 2.5" collector, IMHO. Ground clearance be dammed.Not according to Hotshots R&D. My current header has a 2.5 inch collector (and so does the one they dynoed the Gen6 against). It is also a Tri Y. - .RJ - 10-21-2004 Tri Y != long tube 4-1. I understand the reasons for making it the way they do, but I think its dumb. - Mike - 10-21-2004 .RJ Wrote:I understand the reasons for making it the way they do, but I think its dumb. And that is why you don't design headers for a living. - .RJ - 10-21-2004 I'd like to see SMSP make a header for it
- ScottyB - 10-21-2004 [quote=".RJ"]Tri Y != long tube 4-1.quote] how is a tri-y not a 4-2-1? and if he isn't losing power, it's dumb to think it's dumb
- 83Rabbit - 10-21-2004 Isnt it beneficial to have every runner the same legnth....? Cyl 1 and 4 look to be a MUCH different legnth. :?: - ScottyB - 10-21-2004 83Rabbit Wrote:Cyl 1 and 4 look to be a MUCH different legnth. :?: the kink in runners 1 and 4, plus the length they have to extend outward to clear 2 and 3 makes those runners just about equal by the time they merge, i think. - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 There is a difference of a little over an inch. My guess is it has to be that way for clearance/design issues. - 83Rabbit - 10-21-2004 ScottyB Wrote:83Rabbit Wrote:Cyl 1 and 4 look to be a MUCH different legnth. :?: Im talking 1 and 4 different legnths from 2 and 3 :wink: - CaptainHenreh - 10-21-2004 mpg9999 Wrote:There is a difference of a little over an inch. Sounds like some sort of weird strain of boost rot. - mpg9999 - 10-21-2004 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Yup, also bought a MAF for it, and an ECU. Collecting all the needed parts now. The engine will be the last item because they generally have a 2-4 week start up warrently. That means right after I buy it I need to install it. Plus, its to cold right now. Just waiting for spring to roll around...mpg9999 Wrote:There is a difference of a little over an inch. My guess is it has to be that way for clearance/design issues. |
