Configurator Car Show - G.Irish - 04-26-2021

Since there's a couple of hot new cars coming on the market and I'm sure everyone has been fooling around with configurators, how about sharing all the builds you've been playing with?

I'll start with my desired GT4 build, although at this point I may have to take what I can get used.

The BMW website won't let me configure an E30 for some reason.

As long as you don't post a build for that G80 M3 monstrosity

RE: Configurator Car Show - BLINGMW - 04-28-2021

Configurated this guy with some fancier wheels and actually ordered it (yes in pebble gray with black bumpers as shown), hopefully to arrive this summer. Not QUITE as cool as the Porsche, but at 43 with 4 kids I can be excited about it! It got a 9spd trans this year because somehow 7 wasn't enough. Maybe I'll learn to appriciate it when we decide which 3500-4000lb camper to pull with it.

And I keep going back to find some excuse to get one of these. Not much configurating to be done however:

You're buying a camper? I thought you already bought an RV

Sold the RV before it fell apart, for a profit!

Configurator Car Show - davej - 04-28-2021

I'll sell you a camper! I think it's more like 5500lbs though.

That's a bit much for a 4cyl tow vehicle. It's rated for 5k, but I don't want to be anywhere near that.

RE: Configurator Car Show - Kaan - 04-29-2021

I have to wait for the market to settle... when used cars are as expensive or more expensive than a NEW car (or truck really)

I keep looking at the new hybrid F150 with the plug in feature... it may or may not work with the solar setup i plan to do on the enclosed trailer i plan to get.

I also stalk the toyota website for the 2022 tundra and when i'll be able to build it... basically for the same reasons.

ford.com wont let me configure an SN95 mustang anymore and i'm infatuated with something less boring to drive on the street... the fit is slow, the tundra cant turn (but i like the V8 noises), and the jeep is bump steer... but i'm afraid Sylvia will kill me for brining home another car... i can hear it now "there are two people in this house and we have 5 cars"

At $54k ... its painful to even think about that as a "half ton" pickup truck with an 11k lbs tow capacity. I like that i dont need to drag a generator around... but do i really want that kind of idle time on my truck engine? i like the idea, i'm just not sold on it all yet.

I'm just here for my quarterly dose of Kaan talking about buying a truck.

How many hours a year would you be idling though? Probably less than someone who commutes in DC traffic.

That build looks pretty reasonable, lot of value for the money there. I'd have a hard time not adding a bunch of stuff like the fancy tail gate and shit.

6-8 events a year... half being 3 day events... i've been looking at TFL youtube videos on it to figure out how long it will need to idle. the charging of the electric bmw was a little wild, i dont know if my power needs will be that extreme, assuming i'm not using the AC.

I worry about all the tailgate stuff getting damaged with all the trees and stuff we haul. Also i used the tail gate step setup on the F150 during a "track walk" last year and i really wasnt impressed...

I didnt even bother adding the tailgate step.  By the time you get it out, I will have already gotten all my stuff and be done.  I can see having it for a 8 foot bed, but my 5.5 "wimp bed" I can just reach 99% of things.

My 718 Sypder Build

Color: White (if Miami Blue existed I would have chosen that, but I also like Chalk Gray)

Options:
6 Speed Manual
Deletion of Model Designation on Rera
Bi-Xenon Headlights (I hate the chrome on the stockers)
Heated Steering Wheel
Heated Seats
Unsure about 18-way Sport seats or the Lightweight Buckets. The buckets dont have heat, so that would almost convince me into the "sport" 18 ways.
Seat Belts in Gaurds Red
Bose (heard stock system is super super super wimpy)
Apple Carplay

That's it. I would *maybe* entertain doing Lizard Green deviated stitching on dash and seats/seat belts and then having the calipers powdercoated. But not sure green is going to age well ha!

At $106,500; its a fairly "stripper" 718 Spyder.

Dat butt doe

Lizard green stitching, lizard seat belts, lizard brakes would be hawt. To do that you'd need to spec leather interior then $1500 for the deviated stitching?

Cadillac's CT4 and CT5 Blackwing configurators are up. Optioning things out seems pretty straightforward for the CT4, with just about everything I would want in that car I got to $71k, which compares pretty well to the car with the grill that shall not be named.
