2007 E63 Wagon - davej - 10-31-2019

Outside of always wanting one, I really don't know much about these cars, but I'm excited to dig in and learn. Here's the basics from the PO's ad.
I still need to unpack the car from all the parts and bits he included, but hopefully I'll get some of my own photos up soon.

2007 Mercedes-Benz E63 Wagon - Estate S211 / W211
Imgur https://imgur.com/a/F3EZgpS
Mileage: 146,xxx
Exterior: Flint Gray Metallic 7.5/10
Interior: Black Napa Leather 9/10

Modifications and OEM/OEM+
-Headbolts updated w/OEM (2012+) M156 headbolts, tappet/lifters replaced at same time, valve cover powder coated, some coolant lines, coolant tank and thermostat also replaced 124K miles (this was preventative not reactive)
Album of work: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B_ZgQBYLZaVULU5RaFZHX1Z6U1k?usp=sharing
-ARH (American Racing Headers) Long tube catless headers ceramic coated (these were originally catted but the cats cracked and ARH wanted absurd money to replace, a weekend with a MIG and some 3” band clamps solved that) – this car will not pass an emissions test
-Weistec oil catch can / oil/air separator, checked every 2,500 miles, little to no blow by.
-Weistec trans pan (+2 q of fluid)
-Weistec spark plugs (step colder brisk plugs)
-Eurocharged V7 tune, I have the handheld but I think it’s dead--car was tuned at Eurocharged Orlando
-AFE dry filters with ROW air boxes
-OEM euro convex mirrors
-COMAND with Bluetooth puck removed and swapped for a Carplay unit (COMAND and puck included)
-Shardul underdrive pulley’s
-OEM spare tire and compressor– shoehorned under the 3rd row seats
-3M crystalline tint 40% all glass, 70% windshield
-OEM roof rack and 3 OEM bike racks
-OEM E63 P030 sedan two piece wheels - the wheels are peeling clear coat but no rash
-hardwired V1, color concealed display on gauge cluster and mute button by headlight switch
-mounted and hidden hardware (not hardwired) 2 channel (front/back) Blackvue dashcam with Wi-Fi downloading/updates
-front laser shifters mounted in lower grill, kill switch by drivers left knee
-lowering links in front only, I think it was a turn and half on the nut.  It’s low enough to alleviate the Euro reverse rake not look lowered.
-The rear fenders are lightly rolled, I did have 19” HRE wheels and the clear the semi aggressive offset I rolled the fenders
-I coded out the corning fog lights (add this to the bad, one is cracked)

Maintenance (done in the last 2 years 20K miles)
-fluids/filters changed at regular intervals (oil 5K, trans 30K, diff 30K, brake 2yr, cabin, air (cleaned))
-motor mounts, trans mount
-air suspension compressor
-Arnott airbags (driver front still OEM)
-OEM brakes- rotors, pads, e-brake done 120K
-rear flex disc
-serpentine belt
-lower control arms
-Tires are all matching Continental sports (MO) front tires have about 40-50% tread, rears were replaced 1K miles ago.
-power steering reservoir replaced to elevate groan
-all 8 coil packs
-replaced the gauge cluster (swapped the brain to retain mileage) due to flickering gas gauge
-keyless go (drivers handle and gear select button)
-numerous 02 sensors, these go about every 5K miles and are about $100 on amazon

Hey, at least it's not needing timing belts every 35k?

My favorite feature, by far, is the 3rd row rear facing seats. The entire family can fit in the car!
Also, the kids screams will warn me before being rear-ended.

I figure I'm not too far away from having a mid-life crisis and buying something reliable, so might as well enjoy it while I can.

I missed an opportunity with that for a license plate.

I hope to serve as a warning to future generations of what not to do.

I fucking love this. These engines make the best noises with a stock exhaust, cannot wait to hear one uncorked a bit. Post more pics ASAP.

RE: 2007 E63 Wagon - Apoc - 10-31-2019

I like the part where he said he didn't know much about them AFTER he bought it.

RE: 2007 E63 Wagon - Beej - 10-31-2019

You know I love it, awesome family hauler. Is the exhaust unbearable inside?

What do those things weight? Let's race.

Thanks! It sounds sooo good and the head turns looking for the source crack me up when they realize it's a wagon.
All I've got so far is his album from the posting. https://imgur.com/a/F3EZgpS
Will try to get some glamour shots of around the blue ridges mountains some day.

Hey, I never claimed to be a smart man. I might have known a little on paper before going into it, but I think this is the first Merc of any flavor I've ever driven.

In Comfort mode, it's pretty happy to keep you in a high gear, so as long as you're going easy you can have a normal conversation with out a problem. You can still hear the exhaust, but those cars must have some decent sound proofing. Get on it even a little and all bets are off.

I wanna say it's like 4400 pounds or something silly.
Let's do it, you can wave to my kids in the back-back seat as we pull away.  Tongue

you and I really like obnoxiously loud and fast family haulers. Exhaust battle going up 33?

RE: 2007 E63 Wagon - .RJ - 11-04-2019

Is it broken yet?

Hey now, if that wasn't such a reasonable question to ask I might take offense to it.
I've put about a tank of gas through the thirsty 7 seater and I'm still very much smitten. I still need to read the manual for some things, but I have found the Comfort mode is pretty soft and will start in second gear from a stop, and have you in 5th by 35-40mph. If it wasn't for the exhaust being so loud it would be a very normal and respectable family transporter. There is also a Sport and Manual setting, but out side of starting in 1st and holding a gear longer in sport, I'm not sure yet if does anything else. Manual is manual flappy paddles, which you can engage any time/mode, so again, I'm not entirely sure what the differences are yet.

We took the kids for a leisurely cruise up to Reddish Knob on Saturday and Colin was in love with the jump seat in the back. He waved at everyone behind us the entire way. It might get old after a while, but it was fun watching him relive a similar time I had with my aunt and uncle's 80's Caprice wagon.

The head unit is a Pioneer SPH-DA120 which seems more geared towards apple stuff, but I still need to read up on it.

Next up is trying to pass inspection, the shop with a leaning towards fun cars that did the RS6 a couple of times is no longer in service. (to no ones surprise) so we'll see how I make out at the next place.  I hope to bring it over to Mid Atlantic afterwards and let Jason give is a post purchase look-over to see what might be on the horizon. I know it'll need front tires soon, rears are newer, but if I can find a second set of wheels I might but something a bit more all-season on for the winter.

This is the only other photo I've taken so far, forgot to grab some on Reddish, whoops.

RE: 2007 E63 Wagon - Jake - 11-05-2019

Awesome! Fun fact, every automatic Mercedes since forever has started in 2nd gear for smoothness. On the older ones, if you mat the throttle and hit the kickdown switch, it'll start in 1st away from a stop.

doubt it Big Grin

its such a cool little feature that will never come back, and really isn't the same after you're a kid. i hope he watches a lot of miles go by back there. i still remember a lot of trips i took as a kid looking out the back of a station wagon.

2007 E63 Wagon - JPolen01 - 11-05-2019

When I was little a friend’s mom had a Volvo wagon with the rumble seats. We always rode in there wherever we went. Always a great time.
