The C8 Corvette Thread - G.Irish - 08-15-2019 Since the C8 is gonna provide a lot to talk about in the next couple of years, I thought it'd be easier to discuss in one thread. Pricing for the Stingray options just got leaked: ![]() Pretty attractive pricing for the option packages IMO. Only gotcha is that your can only get axle lift with 2LT and above. If be perfectly happy with the Z51 package as and 1LT trim buy axle lift is a really, reality useful feature for this kind of car. But damn, about $65k for a 1LT Z51? Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - JPolen01 - 08-15-2019 Run flats? Is that usually a standard tire for Corvette? I've never driven on them, but have only heard complaints from those who have. No heated seats until 2LT? Kind of lame. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - .RJ - 08-15-2019 Runflats blow. What a time to be alive! RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - ScottyB - 08-15-2019 Z51 at $5k is the deal of the year. so much good hardware plus you dump the runflats for proper Pilot Sports. 2LT sounds like the "nav, power, and cameras" trim and 3LT is "leather all the things". i'd pass on any factory exhaust given that the aftermarket will have at least 30 choices within a year of these cars going on sale. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - JPolen01 - 08-15-2019 I like G's choice of 1LT w/ Z51. Do agree that having the lift option on the 1LT would be nice. I wouldnt be so quick to dismiss it. The factory stuff will for sure fit correctly, not drone, rattle or rust out, and not cause headaches. You cant say the same for the aftermarket stuff. That's no small feat.... designing OEM stuff is waaaaaaay different than aftermarket. I had the 'bmw performance' cars on my last two poor life decisions bmw purchases and I wouldnt have traded it for any aftermarket part. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - NTIman - 08-15-2019 I have been following the development of these for a while. They definitely delivered, although part of me was a little upset that they weren't just building another FR chassis and messing with everyone with fake prototypes (because that would have been hilarious) I am interested to see the cost of ownership though. I'm concerned that the cost over a period of time is going to be significantly higher than the previous generations, and I feel like that is something that is being overlooked by a lot of people drooling over the new architecture. Why do you think this? I am genuinely curious. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - NTIman - 08-15-2019 The cost of repair and maintenance will likely be higher due to increased labor times... Also a lot of work done previously by owners may not be ideal with the mid engined layout. For instance, the MR2 Spyder was damn near a backwards Corolla, but doing things like changing the coolant was a nightmare. Ever had to take 6 plugs out to drain the coolant and then try to bleed a system that runs from one end of the car to the other? The layout just doesn't lend itself to easy repair and maintenance in my opinion, and I don't think it'll lend itself to the average owner doing even basic stuff like oil changes. Maybe I'm just thinking about things wrong, it may be fine/affordable. The C8 Corvette Thread - Senor_Taylor - 08-15-2019 The Corvettes are already a pain in the ass for some things. Removing the entire rear suspension to change a clutch? I'd bet you're right though, although all performance cars are heading the same direction. Most things are a pain in the ass on the C7. I just feel like the C8 will be worse, but that's the price you pay to have a pretty badass supercar-level Vette. Don't get me wrong, there are way more positives with this car than negatives. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - BLINGMW - 08-15-2019 what is axle lift? RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - .RJ - 08-15-2019 i need to go to college so i dont have to lift up my own front end RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - Steve85 - 08-15-2019 I know they mentioned some packaging with ease of servicing in mind but ultimately I think Jason is right. The cutaways show easy access to the oil filter and 100K fluids go a long way to minimizing the impact but don't expect 60K base price after 1-2 years of warranty expenditures. They can only eat so much ![]() I can't wait to see it in person, heading to Carlisle Thursday (22nd) morning to check it out. (and hopefully get a new roof for the 85 at the swap meet) It looks like since the axle lift can be GPS activated, it's not available without the nav that comes in 2LT. They could have just included it without the GPS capability for 1LT though. RE: The C8 Corvette Thread - .RJ - 08-15-2019 Oh i'm sure they will. But they will never have the fit/finish/longevity of OEM parts, just a different standard. Ok, some ride height adjustability is great and all, but if an extra inch or two is what you need on the street, then fucking just leave it there? Front-splitter-destroying dead skunk isn't going to show up on GPS enabled maps. It only "needs" to be lower at the track. |
