Should I buy these rims?? - Jeff - 10-17-2004

I have a dilemma...

I want to buy these rims for my omni from my friend who had them on his Jetta. They are Aerospeed six spoke aluminum rims. 17X6 with Wynstar tires. I know they are cheap but that is all I need...and it would look goofy cool. Here is my dilemma...the guy who has them is a close friend of mine but he knows nothing about cars. I don't want to rip him off but I can't afford expensive extras for a cheap car, I need to make it fast too. They were $800 new, with the tires. The nuts are now rusty, the finish is chipping, the center caps are missing, and the tires have almost 8,000 miles. HeÔÇÖs not rushed for the money so I would have a lifetime to pay him off (thatÔÇÖs why I'm even considering it) but what price should we go on? $400, $375, Less? I need guidance on this point, thanks guys. I will post a pic soon.

PS. That having been said, anybody interested in a 98 Jetta GT?

That doesn't mean jack. My wheels (mille miglias) were 250 for all four, without tires. They were beautiful, perfect wheels.

So, I'd say no more than $400, and that's with the payments. Wheels don't hold their value.

No sir, this is not a worthless thread, itÔÇÖs a matter of principle more then a matter of fact I'm asking about. I can't say to the guy "hey I'm taking detail pictures of your rims so I can find out if they are worth anything." I've tried for more time then its worth to find a picture on the net. They have long been discontinued, but I'm assuming that you are interested in condition more then style. The edges have clear coat chips, the caps are missing, and the tires are at 2/3 life, what could I provide besides a picture that might help? However, If I take his wheels this weekend (we are winterizing our rides this weekend) IÔÇÖll post some pics and close-ups (and MJ can give me his call then Smile ).

300 imo

- ViPER1313 - 10-18-2004

I got 4 16in stock rims for my car that are near mint + 4 almost new (8-9/10ths tread life, orig 150+ a tire) Pirelli Snowsports for a total of ~400 shipped half way across the country - I'd say $300 or less in your case.

Thanks for that Viper1313, I think I agree at this point. On an unrelated note I have a statement and a question for you. My question, why isn't your username "SHOer1313"? I was just wondering where Viper comes from. As for the statement, I've seen (and driven) some wicked fast minivans in my day. LOL

I've just always gone with ViPER1313 since the time I was in middle school, no real reason.

Bling Bling, it'll look fly with big natural finish Aluminum rims on my Garnet red...the big blingin' Magnaflow muffler I got will help too. The silly look will perk the curiosity of ricers.
