Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - G.Irish - 03-19-2019 https://appletowing.hibid.com/catalog/160840/u-s--marshals--nationwide--online-auction-ending-4-1-2019/ https://www.msn.com/en-us/autos/news/a-collection-of-totally-rad-cars-seized-in-an-oklahoma-pot-bust-are-going-to-auction/ar-BBUSQpx Some dude with a love for JDM metal got busted by the Feds for trafficking weed across state lines and now all his cars are for sale. There's some cool shit in there like a R34 GTR and a couple of MKIV Supras, although a lot isn't street legal. Personally I'm a fan of that '98 STI Type-R but I think most of these cars will end up at prices that don't quite make sense. Still, people have paid good money for dumber ideas. RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - JPolen01 - 03-19-2019 I saw that on FB the other day. That Tommei Evo seems to be extremely rare from what I read. RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - Sijray21 - 03-19-2019 i wonder how much weed the Kenworth T600 will hold.... RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - Senor_Taylor - 03-19-2019 SWAT came into my house, disrespected my whole family because somebody narc'd me out! And you know what? IT WAS YOU! RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - ScottyB - 03-19-2019 first of all, amazing F&F reference, you're my hero. secondly that Evo is probably the prize of the bunch. skylines get the scene points but those older evos are getting so rare. RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - rherold9 - 03-19-2019 Anyone trying to go halfsies? RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - D_Eclipse9916 - 03-19-2019 All are marked as not legal to register. That someone already has a not legal for road use R34 up to $70k is just proof bid-sites are dumb. Titled as Maxima. & hope the Feds don't come calling with their car crusher. RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - Kaan - 03-19-2019 buy now, wait for the time to pass... register it at the 25 year mark or whatever. When they're legal to import here, they'll be cheaper. See: R33s for not crazy prices. They also have companies "legally" do it before 25 year mark Sent from my Pixel 3 using Tapatalk RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - Senor_Taylor - 03-19-2019 (03-19-2019, 02:03 PM)rherold9 Wrote:You may be mistaken if you're referring to R34s specifically. One company was doing it because they crash tested them, but then it came out they made up the date for some models and those cars were crushed.(03-19-2019, 01:41 PM)Goodspeed Wrote:Or don't register it and hide it in your garage [emoji41](03-19-2019, 01:16 PM)rherold9 Wrote:(03-19-2019, 01:10 PM)D_Eclipse9916 Wrote: All are marked as not legal to register. This is why US owners are storing cars in Japan & Canada waiting for that 25-year date before shipping. MotoRex had federal approval from the NHTSA to sell R33 (and only R33) GT-R's after retrofitting side impact beams and crash testing them. They then pretended the approval also applied to R32 & R34 cars (that weren't modified for safety) and got caught. ~13 R34 GT-R's were sold via this ploy before they got shut down & the feds let the owners keep them. These are the ONLY federally legal R34 GT-R's in the country currently. One of the 13 was the 2F2F hero car, also owned by Craig Lieberman that he bought after selling his Supra. Its back to its original black paint & lives in Colorado. ![]() All other R34's in the US currently are state titled and illegal/crushable under federal law if caught. No ifs ands or buts. 99% of modern Skyline variants are also illegal & denied via the Show & Display exemption. RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - rherold9 - 03-19-2019 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ok RE: Feds Seized Johnny Tran's Fleet and Now the Cars are on Auction - Goodspeed - 03-19-2019 (03-19-2019, 10:42 PM)rherold9 Wrote: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ok YOU GON LEARN TODAY. I typed up my last post while suffering from a crushing headache so if it was terse, know that I still love you. Interestingly, the 2F2F GT-R, before Mr. Lieberman bought it, was known as "Blackbird" & was MotoRex's demo car, and as I noted, still survives. Also interestingly, the 1st F&F GT-R was known as "Big Bird", & was MotoRex's previous demo car. It, despite being a "legal" R33, was crushed into a cube by the state of Wisconsin. ![]() RIP. |
