FS: two DDWRT WiFi routers, $75 for the pair - BLINGMW - 12-06-2018 One is a dual channel 2.4/5ghz that for some reason buffalo stopped making https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0096239G0/ The other is a just a 2.4ghz but also DDWRT https://www.amazon.com/Buffalo-AirStation-HighPower-Wireless-WHR-300HP2/dp/B00DZJU6NY/ With them I was able to split my connection to neighboring house 200ft away, worked pretty well
RE: FS: two DDWRT WiFi routers, $120 for the pair - davej - 12-06-2018 so that version of wrt has the repeater mode? just flashed my old one the other day but for some reason that mode isn't there, I could repeat across the wire connection with a vlan, but who uses wires these days? I don't remember the details of how I set it up, but yes, right now the dual channel one is set up as a repeater and the smaller one as the main. Then the link between them is 2.4ghz and the dual channel can use its 5ghz for client connections, which is a lot faster than having one radio do both. From what i recall, it was whether or not the access point and/or router supported it or not. RE: FS: two DDWRT WiFi routers, $120 for the pair - BLINGMW - 10-21-2019 Half considering going back to these because the Netgear stuff I replaced them with, while faster, has firmware developed by some kind of semi-intelligent slime mold. RE: FS: two DDWRT WiFi routers, $120 for the pair - HAULN-SS - 10-22-2019 Buy ubiquiti stuff and never look back. It runs a version of debian natively, and can be flashed to openwrt if you're into that sort of thing. I've never needed a reason to not use the stock firmware though. Well ok, haven't looked into them. Maybe this will do what I need https://www.amazon.com/AmpliFi-Ubiquiti-Seamless-Wireless-Extenders/dp/B07HHHC8JB/ or this, though with no useful range specs from their site who knows https://www.amazon.com/AmpliFi-Ubiquiti-Seamless-Wireless-Extenders/dp/B01L9O08PW/ So you're saying their firmware updates don't break the devices 50% of the time and all the features actually work? That's an improvement for sure.... RE: FS: two DDWRT WiFi routers, $75 for the pair - BLINGMW - 03-26-2020 updated price |
