Ruined mini problems - Rupertfl - 03-15-2018 So, I've been having knocking and clunking sounds coming from the front suspension for a while. Spring break I took a look around everything seemed good, but I had some scratches on my cv joints from the end links. I thought I followed mini forums instructions properly with matching stock length, then dropping it down to let the suspension set. Then do minor adjustments to make sure there is no pre load on the sway. The lock them down, but it still clunked. Therefore, I did the opposite over spring break, I put the car on ramps to see and clearance issues and determined the end links had to be shortened. I put them to the lowest setting which gave the cvs good clearance from the links. Yet, when I checked today I have more scratches on the cvs. What is going on here? Lowering springs? Struts? Aftermarket bar? And does the clunk only come under hard cornering? Braking? Scratches are on the CV joint boots? Outer I assume? Ruined mini problems - Rupertfl - 03-15-2018 It is lowered quite a bit on fortune auto coils, standard jcw 24mm sway bar, the cv boots are good, all of the bushings seemed okay (of course you can really tell). It happens at low speeds over rough road, especially when they're are many little bumps. Doesn't happen when braking unless i go over bumps. I'll get pics to the thread when I get back home. The scratches are on the metal shaft before the boot. The one thing that confused me when I readjusted the links over break was, when I bounced on the kick plate on the driver side it would clunk, but when I bounced on the passenger side it wouldn't make a noise. It would make a sound with people bouncing on both sides either. The sound before I adjusted them over break was a deep clunk from the passenger side specifically. After I adjusted it it's a little metal contact noise from either side. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk Ruined mini problems - Rupertfl - 03-28-2018 I finally got some insight on how to do this. Thank you for the thoughts. I'm sorry I haven't put up pics, unfortunately haven't been able to get the car up in the air. It seems I shortened them too much. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |
