Top Speed Run - GTBrandon - 09-18-2017 Anyone else interested in doing an event with a top speed portion? Now that I actually have the proper speed rating on my tires and a decent alignment, I'd love to see what I can get it up to on a runway. The only events I've seen cost around $200 and that doesn't seem worth it to me, but curious to know if others would be interested or if they know of something like this. I'd like to see the MMoped there for sure
RE: Top Speed Run - Goodspeed - 09-18-2017 The closest one to Hburg that I know of is the WannaGoFast event at the airport in Hot Springs. I went to spectate a couple years ago and it seemed to be a very well run & organized event. Seems to happen over the summer though but it seems more and more of these types of events are popping up so maybe there's a fall/winter outing somewhere in the area.
RE: Top Speed Run - davej - 09-18-2017 The airport by Rex's house only has like 2 flights a day. I bet they'd let you make a couple of passes in between. RE: Top Speed Run - Jake - 09-18-2017 Dominion Raceway is hosting some sort of top speed thing on the roundy-round course. Not super close to JMU but is an option with someone we know running the show (Felton). RE: Top Speed Run - GTBrandon - 10-09-2017 Well i'm sure there are a few venues to find around here, just wanted to see if anyone else wanted to do something like this. Doesn't seem like very many do though. Side note: How does one tag another in a forum post Top Speed Run - Senor_Taylor - 10-09-2017 So you want to host your own event to do top speed runs? I think we've done something in the past at some runway Chris Lacey's family had. That said, that doesn't sound like a good idea. That's such a liability. I think we've done something in the past at some runway Chris Lacey's family had. I wouldn't be hosting it, it would most likely be organized by another group and we would simply sign up like any other person, just all go in a group and make it an event of sorts. Either way, doesn't seem like anyone is really interested in doing this, and as you said it is a huge liability so I can understand why. I just want to find out my top speed legally and in a semi safeĀ and controlled environment, turns out the straights at VIR aren't enough for 4200 pounds of Bavarian glory. Top Speed Run - Senor_Taylor - 10-09-2017 #1 Rule of Event planning is to not ask who's interested if you want a decent response. Organize the event, have a date, location, and a price. Then tell people to come. Just have to do your market research beforehand. RE: Top Speed Run - Senor_Taylor - 10-09-2017 But really, find an event that's near-ish, organize a group to go! Just do, be a leader, and people will follow. |
