Help me sell my boat - Deceus - 07-12-2017 So the Challenger has to go. I was going to wait until I had the title in hand but the thought of paying insurance on a car I'm not driving for the next 6 months just doesn't sit well with me. That's $900 that could go to the project. The problem is I'm not really getting ANY hits. Not even getting lowball offers. So far I've taken it to the Dodge dealership in town, CarMax and Jeff. The dodge dealership in town just straight said they don't wanna touch it because they'll "have" to change out the katzkin interior ... that was put in by Dodge. CarMax gave me 14k which was actually higher than I was expecting but not high enough to seriously consider. KBB has it around 15-16k for a trade-in and 17-18k for a private sell. I have yet to see one for sale for less than 18,000 and most are a lot closer to 20. I've posted it to a large (55k) Mopar only trading group and Craigslist. Any other place I should consider? Is a small lien really that big of a deal? I plan on doing the transaction at my bank regardless so it's no difference to me personally. What's pissing me off the most is the dealership even had a 2010 with similar mileage on the lot for $21500. Re: Help me sell my boat - WRXtranceformed - 07-12-2017 Specialized sports cars sometimes take a little longer to sell I feel like. I had my Jag on the market for a while and had it up everywhere...Cargurus, forums, CL, even did paid SEO with Autotrader and Autotrader Classics. Guy who bought it ended up finding it on my free craigslist ad. Go figure. How long have you had it on the market? It might just take some patience and expanding your digital marketing reach to get it out there to the type of people looking for a car like that Re: Help me sell my boat - Deceus - 07-12-2017 I put it on Facebook a couple weeks ago, but CL was pretty recent. I figured patience was a key part of it, was just a little worried to see absolutely nothing and to not even get an offer from the dealer was a bit terrifying. Not really sure where else to throw it up except for maybe AutoTrader or something. I'm thinking the next step might be to just pay it off and take it to 1-2 of the major Mopar shows coming up. Also considering taking it up to NoVa for a weekend and going to a few dealers. Don't think the places here move many vehicles outside of Jeeps, trucks and beaters. I should just go down to the naval base in Norfolk and park it outside the gate for 20k but that'd just be mean. Re: Help me sell my boat - CaptainHenreh - 07-12-2017 I'll give you treefiddy. Re: Help me sell my boat - Deceus - 07-14-2017 Just decided to take the 14k and run. Was realistically only going to get 15-16k from a dealership and privately just wasn't going to happen. I'd have to find someone interested in a used challenger that: 1. likes the interior 2. drives stick 3. was willing to pay 18k. Just didn't see it happening without waiting months and watching this thing continue to tank in value, sucks it'll probably get relisted for 20k but I just don't have the patience. Just glad I didn't buy it new. |
