Breaking news - BLINGMW - 10-07-2004 as in, this guy's car just got 'broke' in half right at the end of our street. hock: ![]() ![]() It's a 35MPH, 2 lanes each way w/ turn lane street that our little dead end road connects too, and this is what I saw just an hour ago as I was heading home (stuck around to play with my car on the lift at Geno's 8) ). I dragged Jess out to go spectate. Somehow this guy lost it, crossed the oncoming lane and hit a telephone pole sideways, breaking the pole in half (the top half still hanging from the lines), and also slicing his car in half at the firewall. Oh, and somehow ended upside down. And from what I gather, the car whose taillights you see far left in the 2nd pic hit his transmission and stopped in the center lane. No real damage there, just pointing out that his transmission ended up in the road. Neato. Something tells me he wasn't going 35 when this all went wrong. Pretty standard Atlanta driving really. Sorry for the picture quality, my digicam is WORTHLESS at night. And that's after heavy photoshop level, contrast, and color enhancements. - Maengelito - 10-07-2004 i like the sign that says its time for $10 off radiator flush (or something like that). looks like this guy was goin for a whole front clip flush. - BLINGMW - 10-07-2004 yeah, I don't think the radiator flush is gonna save him now! - Jess - 10-07-2004 the verdict is in: drag racing. apparently the car in chan's pic is a lexus...two kids died (creepy since we saw the EMTs taking one away on a stretcher). hock: The other kid was in a honda...he emerged uninjured but is facing reckless, speeding, and two counts vehicular homicide. D'oh! The moral of this story? don't drag race kids (of course you all know this, maaan). we'll try to find some better pics cause really, you need to see this. Pretty f0cking ri-cock-ulous - Ryan T - 10-07-2004 Damn, crazy stuff. - Mike - 10-08-2004 chan, try not moving the camera up and down when you take pictures... i really can't see a damn thing. - Feersty - 10-08-2004 Yeah the pictures are teh sux. - BLINGMW - 10-08-2004 here ya go, the newspaper paper cheats. They have a light. ![]() "Two Alpharetta teenagers were killed Thursday night when the car they were racing in hit a pole and split in two, according to Fulton County police. The car, a Lexus occupied by two juveniles and a 17-year-old, was racing a Honda Accord southbound on Roswell Road at Spruell Springs Road in Sandy Springs when the driver lost control of the car, said Cpl. Gary Syblis of the Fulton Police Department. Two of the occupants were dead at the scene. Police identified the victims as 15-year-old Vadim Zavodnitskiy and 16-year-old Vitaliy Khokhlan, both of Alpharetta. The driver of the Accord, a 16-year-old whose name has not been released, was charged with reckless driving, speeding, drag racing and two counts of vehicular homicide." - Mike - 10-08-2004 So I assume the Accord won? VTEC powa! - .RJ - 10-08-2004 BLINGMW Wrote:The car, a Lexus occupied by two juveniles and a 17-year-old, was racing a Honda Accord southbound on Roswell Road at Spruell Springs Road in Sandy Springs when the driver lost control of the car, said Cpl. So much for driving the R around town down there. - Dragon - 10-12-2004 BLINGMW Wrote:The driver of the Accord, a 16-year-old whose name has not been released, was charged with reckless driving, speeding, drag racing and two counts of vehicular homicide."I'm assuming one of the two deceased underagers was driving, and therefore the charges of vehicular homicide go to the Accord driver. If not then it doesn't make sense to me, the charges of vehicular homicide should go towards the driver of the lexus. - Mike - 10-12-2004 Dragon Wrote:BLINGMW Wrote:The driver of the Accord, a 16-year-old whose name has not been released, was charged with reckless driving, speeding, drag racing and two counts of vehicular homicide."I'm assuming one of the two deceased underagers was driving, and therefore the charges of vehicular homicide go to the Accord driver. The Lexus folks died, the Accord kid is charged. - Dragon - 10-12-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:The Lexus folks died, the Accord kid is charged. Based on the way the charges went down it looks like either the 15 or 16 yr old was driving. - Mike - 10-12-2004 My take: 3 kids in the Lexus, 15/16/17... 17 was a passenger, lived, no charges. 15 isn't old enough to drive, died. 16 was likely driving, died. 1 kid in the Accord, 16, charged. - Dragon - 10-12-2004 MichaelJComputer Wrote:My take: 3 kids in the Lexus, 15/16/17... 17 was a passenger, lived, no charges. 15 isn't old enough to drive, died. 16 was likely driving, died. 1 kid in the Accord, 16, charged.Yeah, sounds about right, although it is down south, can't ya drive down there at like 12 as long as you're sleeping with a cousin or sister? - JackoliciousLegs - 10-12-2004
- Evan - 10-12-2004 :?: - JackoliciousLegs - 10-12-2004 don't :?: me! Those pics SUCKED. - .RJ - 10-12-2004 :?: Did you read the post? - BLINGMW - 10-12-2004 JackoliciousLegs Wrote:don't :?: me! Those pics SUCKED. bah, you get what you pay for. And by the way, they are still going on about it. They were out there sunday holding prayers I guess, and there was some candlelight vigil saturday night. And that made the news again. There's a bunch of stuff still out there, all the candle bags and a big pile of "we'll miss you" signs and flowers and stuff. The church they were aparently driving to is just down the street. Sad story. Although, I don't know how many people decide that street racing to church makes sense. Even sadder is the fact that the top half of the broken off telephone pole is still precariously dangling from the lines, waiting to fall and claim someone walking down the sidewalk with it's jagged tip of extreme peril. I don't know why they still haven't fixed that. Seems like holding candlelight vigils under a huge dangling wooden spike is a bad idea, but maybe that's just me. Maybe they're trying to go for a new world record? "Most people killed by a single telephone pole"? |
