What's on your feet? - davej - 03-02-2017 My Carolina steel toes have finally given up the ghost after 12 years, so I'm looking for an all purpouse replacement. I don't think steel toe is a requirement, as I only needed them for visiting ship yards when I was with Lockheed, but they have come in handy more than once. I've heard good things about Red Wings, and http://www.redwingheritage.com/us/USD/p ... 1907-01907 are the front runners right now, but curious if anyone has experience with them, or any other buy-it-for-life type of boot. Trying to talk the wife into getting them as a birthday/christmas/next years birthday present, and if they last another 10+ years, that's only like $30/year.
Re: What's on your feet? - JPolen01 - 03-02-2017 If you just need a pair of workboots to bomb around the yard I've had a pair of wolverine boots for at least 7 or 8 years and they are just now needing replacing. Nothing crazy, just good priced work boots. My dad and father in law swear by them, both working on concrete floors 100% of the time and on their feet in their Workboot line. The Heritage line is supposed to be just as comfy, but obviously nicer looking. Re: What's on your feet? - ScottyB - 03-02-2017 if some money were burning a hole in my pocket I'd love a set of Danner Bull Runs. I had a pair of steel toe Wolverines in my high school warehouse job days and they were very tough but not easy on my feet. i think that's generally the most popular work boot. i hear great things about Redwing's US-made boots and Iron Rangers. Re: What's on your feet? - SlimKlim - 03-02-2017 I have the nastiest, rattiest, oldest pair of Chippewa steel toes you've ever seen. I "inherited" them from my Dad ~12 years ago to wear doing farm work and building fences. They still have soot ingrained in them from when we had to sort out the wreckage of our garage after the fire in 2007. They're definitely built to last. Re: What's on your feet? - *insertusernamehere* - 03-02-2017 ......I bought $20 boots for work from Walmart 13 mins before the snow started coming down? Re: What's on your feet? - Kaan - 03-03-2017 my legit army boots lasted me 20 years before they quit. and they saw everything... JROTC and ROTC drill, hiking, camping, yard work, etc etc. when they gave up the ghost, i purchased a set of Georgia boots. They are incredibly durable BUT the laces didnt hold up (big deal), i do treat them twice a year with oil, and getting new inserts is amazing (stockers were fine for 2 years of wearing them all the timie #rednecklife). Re: What's on your feet? - ScottyB - 03-03-2017 do you recommend mink oil or something like lexol conditioner? i haven't had to treat a nice pair of leather boots for durability in years and have no idea what's out there now, i just go off of what used to work great on my baseball mitt  Re: What's on your feet? - davej - 03-03-2017 Some good alternatives to cross shop, thanks! Scott, if you can do an 8" [giggidy] these are on sale http://www.danner.com/men/sale/bull-run ... risty.html Re: What's on your feet? - Ryan T - 03-03-2017 I've been wearing Bates boots for a number of years at work and I've been very happy with them. Lightweight, durable and polish up very nice. Re: What's on your feet? - Kaan - 03-03-2017 i use the redwing oil, i think its mink. I use the cleaner and then i oil it. helps keep it much more waterproof if you go with a boot that isnt lined to be waterproof. i didnt go with the lined boot because of the weight and heat retention.
