High value E46 parts? - lxpeery - 11-01-2016 Due to "complications" with the Virginia DMV, I have a 2004 325i that I can't legally sell as a whole car. As such, it's being parted out. I'm pretty good about knowing part values, but BMW is far from my specialty. Is there anything on the car that is unreasonably valuable? I don't want to throw away some piece of interior plastic or the like if it's something that would actually be worth selling, but given my lack of experience with BMW parts, I'm wasting a lot of time and space researching every little part that I pull off. Shit like the cabin air filter housing seems like the kind of thing that would be worthless, but they sell all day long on eBay for $50. Sigh... the death of a perfectly good E46 ![]()
Re: High value E46 parts? - Jake - 11-01-2016 You may have luck with any and all body panels for the Spec E46 crowd. They run 330's but body panels don't matter. A good number of them are running 4-doors. I would post in their Facebook group asking if anyone needs common parts that are smaller like you mentioned. Not sure what swaps between the two motors but you may be surprised. Re: High value E46 parts? - Senor_Taylor - 11-01-2016 That honda civic hood was a rare option for E46's, so that's worth some goo money. Too bad it's not LSB. Re: High value E46 parts? - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-01-2016 The 325i ufortunately is the runt of the group. Bare chassis and body parts can go to the SE46 guys. Auto or manual? I would be interested in rear axles...maybe, depending on price. Rear suspension/brakes you might as well junk (the 330i is an upgrade). The Diff is worth a core charge to SE46 guys. Motor sell on craigslist with trans. Is it a black interior? If not, just be prepared to throw away. What steering wheel? Re: High value E46 parts? - D_Eclipse9916 - 11-01-2016 Oh forgot, probably can get $25-35 per fender liner to the SE46 guys. Re: High value E46 parts? - *insertusernamehere* - 11-01-2016 I'd just lay it all out on the floor. Take some pics of everything and post it to the BMW classifieds page and let people tell you what they want. Ya never know. I guess just make sure for the bigger ticket items, make sure you have a good price already set in mind so you don't lose too much money on it. Re: High value E46 parts? - lxpeery - 11-01-2016 Thanks for the Facebook adds Taylor and Matt, and the advice from everyone else. I'll see where things take me, I suppose. Not looking forward to shipping the body panels or drivetrain, so hopefully those will go locally. Keep up the suggestions! You're not one that's opposed to travelling so I'd say anyone north of Nova should meet you there and have more than one thing to deliver so it's worth the time and gas and then everything else I'd sell out of rva. Let me know if you need help or anything. Re: High value E46 parts? - Senor_Taylor - 11-01-2016 Reach out to MM'ers as well with E46's! Sam Schaidhammer and Declan might need parts, and they're both my neighbors. If it has the sport package, the steering wheel is worth money like DJ said. Keep the hazard and door lock switch and window switches. Those break on every E46 ever. Possibly the radiator to the right (stupid and broke) person. Re: High value E46 parts? - RawrImAMonster - 11-02-2016 Oh yeah, if you're in Harrisonburg and have a non-broken window switch, I might take that off you. My passenger one is usable, but still broken. I'll have to double check that they are the same part on 4 doors vs 2 door cars, but I'm guessing they will be. Re: High value E46 parts? - Jake - 11-02-2016 Stephen, they should be the same. May be different part numbers but I have heard of people swapping between the two. Good point about the wheel, Taylor - I'd argue that any steering wheel that's got nice leather would be worth at least a few doll hairs. The cars are getting older and leather wears down. I am indeed in Harrisonburg, though the car is in Charlottesville. I still have every single piece of the car, and it all works. I'll give a heavy MM discount if you want anything. PM me with requests, and I'll get things together this weekend. |
