1968 F100 - Scott - 10-12-2016 Might as well start a thread to keep document what happens with this one. While searching Facebook one night I came across a friend selling his '68 F100, 3 speed on the column, inline 6 cylinder. While looking at the pictures, my wife said she "had to have it" So I did the right thing, sent money and loaded up the trailer (because I needed another project....): ![]() Price was right, and she wanted something to use for yard work, driving the dog around and throwing paddle boards in the back of and heading to a nearby lake. Plus she has always wanted an old truck and wanted something simple so she can learn how to increase her mechanical knowledge. After new tires, a quick tune up (plugs, wires, distributor, belt), it starts right up and stops. ![]() ![]()
Re: 1968 F100 - Scott - 10-12-2016 This winter's project is fixing this: ![]() The truck came with new cab corners and floor pans ready to weld in. After that, we tackle the bed..... Re: 1968 F100 - BLINGMW - 10-12-2016 Scott Wrote:So I did the right thingGood man! Re: 1968 F100 - davej - 10-12-2016 Looks like it'll be a fun project! Good on her for wanting an old truck, mine wants a mid 60's C10, but they all seem to be either basket cases or out of the budget. Re: 1968 F100 - CaptainHenreh - 10-13-2016 Yote swap and bags? Re: 1968 F100 - ScottyB - 10-13-2016 old trucks are the best. love that color too. also your wife appears to be super cool. Re: 1968 F100 - Scott - 10-14-2016 CaptainHenreh Wrote:Yote swap and bags? Not happening, the last thing this truck needs is more power (Yote motor will be for the Cobra kit car I am going to build....) I had big plans about lowering and a Crown Vic suspension swap, but I've been told it's staying stock....... davej Wrote:Looks like it'll be a fun project! Supposedly the C-10's drive a lot better than the Fords of same generation, but for what I have in this truck and what it's going to be used for, it really doesn't matter...... Re: 1968 F100 - Goodspeed - 10-14-2016 This is way cool. I want an old truck like this, someday...so simple, usable, and full of character. Excited to see progress!
