WTB: seats and harnesses for racekur - Paul_Easterbrooks - 05-27-2016

Well, it's about that time I get some safety things. After putting DTC-60s on the vette, the car brakes hard enough to push the seat backs forward under heavy load and the speeds are just too high for regular stock seats. I'm looking for two seats and brackets as well as 5 or 6 point harnesses. I'm going to be putting in a cage over the summer so I'm planning on installing seats at the same time.

So what are you DD'ing?

Also congrats on finally getting an account to work.

Good luck. It's a fun experience once you get it all installed yourself/with help of others. It's definitely not best for a DD but I know you have another car

No daily as of now, but I don't really drive the vette everyday anyways. Take my motorcycle/bicycle to work most days and live across from a grocery store. If y'all know of anyone trying to sell seats and things, let me know. I'm definitely trying to go with nice used equipment

Calling maybe DJ. He'd know more about the C5 z06 than anything. Do you have any idea what seats fit?

Bolt in roll bar?

I wouldn't buy a roll bar used I'd just buy it new and autopower is doing well for me.

I saved hundreds of dollars buying mine used and only getting new hardware for it. The money saved was enough to get a brand new harness, for example.

There's nothing inherently dangerous about a used rollbar so long as it hasn't been in a crash that affected it. I bought mine from my friend Will and have since installed it in another friend's 328i.

Paul, do you know what seats fit the car and what seats fit you? Check to make sure there aren't any issues with width insdie the cabin. We've seen some pretty big dudes in the C5 with race seats so I doubt you'll have a problem.

I do have a Sparco side mount bracket (the L-shaped one) that you will need for each seat. Mine is only slightly lime-green-colored and could be yours for less than retail on a new one. Text me.

I agree with Jake. Just be careful unless you actually know the person if you buy a roll bar used. Should be pretty obvious though if it has been in a bad wreck.

Paul,

One of the alumni bought my used seats and brackets from my C5 Z06. PM me and I will send you his contact information, as he is not using for a vette so maybe he will part with the corvette specific brackets. I had Evos in the Z06, they did rest slightly on the door panels, but nothing that was permanent damage to it. Stock z06 seats suck, so I am not surprised you are upgrading.

Used roll bars are fine, the z06 is tricky though because of the fiberglass and balsa wood floors (seriously), so do your research as to the proper way to install them.

Am I picking up on some aggression there, DJ?
