NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Gordonovski - 12-17-2015

Who's going? Pretty sure it's on one end of spring break, so the distance shouldn't discourage a lot of students from going. This is going to be a cool event.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Kaan - 12-17-2015

Unless i win the lottery I wont make this event. I need to keep it close to home so i can afford stuff. damn you grown up life.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Jake - 12-17-2015

I'm going. My plan is to take Friday and Monday off of work - I'll do the whole drive down on Friday, and split the drive home between Friday evening and Monday.

Currently accepting applications for a co-pilot/tow-pilot.

That is what I am doing. Road Atlanta doesn't allow dogs and our parents are out of town so I may be making the trip alone Cry hahah. Probably get a caravan of cars going. If the wifey doesn't come, I dont mind running down 81 and picking up a current student.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Jake - 12-17-2015

Yeah, same. Would be great to at least do a caravan but ideally have some company/co-driver.

I would ideally pick someone up near Richmond as my route is straight down 95 South from my place.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Gordonovski - 12-17-2015

I'd be willing to co-pilot down there with either of you. It sounds like it'd be easier to meet DJ right now, but I could figure a way to Richmond, Jake.

I guess a 7-8 hour drive is the perfect time to learn how to drive with a trailer.

If you want experience towing, I suggest starting with Jakes open trailer . A 22' foot long truck and 36' long trailer is NOT the trailer to learn on. You are more than welcome to ride along though.

Don't forget about the NASA-SE discount going on till the January 1st. With the discount and Jake's gas #'s from his recent trip it makes it almost the same price as a Mid-ATL weekend (minus the time off from work)... it's real tempting.

Do it, if Jess isnt coming, you can use the floor of my trailer. I always have a spare air mattress and sheets/pillows in the trailer.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Jake - 12-17-2015

I have a feeling I'll end up at a local hotel, especially if someone ends up riding with me. A full-sized air mattress "fits" in the Yukon but I have to sleep kind of diagonally on it.

The Best Western I stayed at a few weeks ago was $74/night with the NASA rate, for two queen beds. Anyone want to split that? It's only 4 miles from the track.

I probably wouldn't want to drive your rig because of all the money in it, but I can't imagine driving that trailer would be too much different from a bus (besides backing up). Don't want to be overly confident, but I think I would figure it out eventually.

And Jake, I'd be willing to split a hotel with you.

Interested in tagging along in a passenger seat if school doesn't get in the way.

I know we've got some time before this happens, but I'm thinking we might have to take an extra car or two. When we come back from break, it might be worth getting some commitments from other members and see if we can rent a JMU van (commence shitstorm for mentioning JMU vans, whatthefuckever.)

I probably can't go. This is the last weekend of spring break? I was planning on something a bit bigger for my last spring break in college.

So... thinking about going. Just worried about no trailer and 7 hours away haha. Thoughts? I don't think there will be any engine issues more like my shitty luck with something stupid like gravel debedding my tire

It's a risk :dunno: Unfortunately everyone I know going with a trailer has a "no shit" race car so they cant really throw yours on the trailer and drive theirs home. Jake was one of the last holdouts that I knew. I did it for years without having a plan. Maeng does it everytime, in fact is Maeng joining us?

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - *insertusernamehere* - 01-09-2016

Can everyone sort of go over their rooming situations... Just curious. Extremely undecided. Maybe if i can convince James to come down with me, us two non-drivers can chill. But we'll see.

Re: NASA MA: March 12-13 at Road Atlanta. - Jake - 01-09-2016

I'm waffling between staying in DJ's trailer (which I probably will do, because I'm cheap) or splitting a hotel room with someone.

Ryan - I would say that if you bring extra fluids, basic tools, some duct tape (really), a spare wheel/tire, and use common sense, you'd be just fine. Your car isn't some ancient POS, I think the biggest risk is just you overdriving it and bending some metal - not some random gasket or hose failing because it's 25 years old.
