Miata for part out or rebuild. - $1200 - Senor_Taylor - 12-11-2015

Hello all! With a heavy heart, I must inform you that Michelle has met her demise. Now it is time for us to part ways. A front end collision has done the following:

THE GOOD:
Clean title - Doesn't need to be trailered at all, but it wouldn't be a bad idea since the airbag has been deployed
Valid VA inspection through June 2016
Car still runs, and drives just the same as it ever did
Strongest 1.6 I've ever driven. No visible smoke or anything. Might burn 1/10th a quart of oil in between changes if that. Just enough to put some black on the bumper if you don't wash it for a few months
Seats are in excellent condition. Just need a cleaning. Driver side has foamectomy mod
The rest of the interior is a 8/10 in my personal opinion
Aftermarket head unit with Sony Xplode speakers with custom Cool Whip Container rain guards. +5 horsepower
Brand new pads and rotors on rear, pads on front (still have cross hatching on rear rotors)
New tires (<3000 miles)
NB Wheels
New Water pump, timing belt, heater hoses, and radiator.
Roof is in fantastic condition beside the leaking on the passenger side and a small tear in the window which has been taped
New window regulator on driver side
New front driver lower ball joint
Airbag sensor module has been replaced (Couldn't get the old one out so there are two in the dash)
A/C and Heat work fantastically
Upgraded 1.8 Calipers and brackets on REAR ONLY
Brand new battery (not the proper AGM OEM better)

THE BAD:
Bent both front fenders and bumper
Broken Radiator mounts
Hood is bent and radiator support is pushed backwards and bent
Thermostat now weeps slightly from gasket
Passenger headlight motor does not work and will drain battery if plugged in
Airbag has deployed
Door card on driver side catches door jam a little
Paint on every panel has chipped away in at least one spot from the shock
I believe either the subframe has shifted or the steering rack has, as the front passenger wheel has positive camber now
Engine makes a few more noises than it did before, but still pulls the same as it ever did
Speedometer cable makes noise if the temperature is under 40*
Rear right caliper is sticking
Roof does not seal perfectly at the top of the passenger window. Heavy rain causes water to come inside if the car has sat for a few hours
Two tiny chips in windshield that are basically invisible since I sealed them with a repair kit
New clutch, but has a bit of chatter
Idles at 1500, but drops down to normal when A/C is on. (Idle speed control valve)
Paint looks good from 20 feet where there still is paint. You can tell it was a cheap paint job by the previous owner
Trunk leaks a little through the third brake light
Rear main seal may be leaking. Never dripped on the ground no matter how long I let it sit before the accident
I shut the trunk too hard and it broke the plastic piece between the trunk and the bumper right after I took the pictures (NOT SHOWN IN PHOTOS)

Here is the build thread for the car since I bought it in May: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=11477

The car will be in Lynchburg, Virginia by Saturday (12/19/15). Asking price is $1200. Open to negotiation. Please buy this so I can go on and purchase my next bad decision.

THE UGLY:

Sounds like the entire tub is twisted......

Define these "noises"

Hence me not wanting to try to fix it.

It was always a noisy motor, but now it has another deep clicking noise. These noises aren't very loud, so you only hear them with the hood up. Hard to describe. Nothing ever worried me while driving it, and if I heard the noises in a world where the miata wasn't wrecked, I wouldn't have thought twice about them.

Not trying to be rude, but if someone offers you $500 for it as it sits, you should take the money and run away happily....... If the tub is bent it's not even race car donor shape

That's understandable. No reason not to have the price this high for now. I'm in absolutely no hurry to sell this thing. I didn't expect to drive anything other than my truck until like March anyway.

Unfortunately I don't have a good eye for being able to tell if the whole car is twisted. It's really crazy the amount of damage done to this thing from a supposedly low speed accident Big Grin
