MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Senor_Taylor - 07-30-2015

Hey all, I was talking to Mr. Bradford about how I feel we may lose connections as the generations of MM'ers come and go. Things that happened 3 years ago may seem recent to some, but are ancient history to me and any new members. We know no one other than the people that still come around, and we don't really know the fun stories that you alumni know.

So he gave me the idea to start a thread to dump all of your fun anecdotes and pictures from the days of MM's past. What are some events that us current and future members should know about? Old threads that were amusing? (Please do not post in dead threads that are linked!) Please try to give a rough date and some context to each event. Seriously, what's up with the RJ Money Shot Thread?

In my short time in MM, I have lots of fun memories,

like that time that Giancarlo called me 5 minutes before the start of the car show and said he was stuck in some mud on the other side of town.

or when I hauled Jack's bear through campus?

[Image: 11248107_379279648935172_203169489_n.jpg]

or when Chris Chzan decided to turn my living room into a wrestling area and I took on Jack?

https://instagram.com/p/uBTaqdL5oi/?tak ... nor_taylor

or even when Jack and Sam locked a motorcycle lock around my bike tires one morning my freshmen year and I got so mad that I cut through them with a Dremel and bolt cutters when I got to work?

And who could forget these great threads?

Like when I wanted to have everyone vote on a new t-shirt design and that turned into 20+ pages of no progress.

or, the entire club effort to find me a cheap Miata?

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jake - 07-30-2015

I have some great photos on my home computer... those might get posted tonight. Otherwise...

1. Hoooooldbaaaaacks. Jeff Morrison to the white courtesy phone.
1a. Jeff's birthday or whatever, also on video... the gun catalog... "it's ballin'" *falls over*

2. Abandoning Joey's M3, my Miata and my buddy Ryan's Prelude (all on jack stands) and hopping into my busted-ass E30 to drive to campus when JMU beat Tech that one time. There's a fantastic photo of that somewhere.

3. Ice fishing and associated videos.

4. MM BangBus 1.0 and associated shitstorm that took place

5. Burn It Down at Chapin's place... picking up my Miata and moving it, breaking the deck, David M getting perhaps the drunkest I've ever seen him, Channing attempting to ride a motorcycle in a very small shed

6. The first College Solo and the giant five-school BBQ we hosted in my backyard at Pheasant Run the night before

7. Halloween parties at Paul's place. Glowsticks and bad costumes (get ready, this is where those photos come in to play)

8. All the random cruises. Gas was cheap and back roads were plentiful.

9. That time my E30 experienced massive fuel starvation and the Davids had to roll it backwards down that hill by the Days Inn and not hit or be hit by anyone in the process

10. Driving back from the 12 Hours of Sebring with Cody and Chris in Cody's E46, and realizing that if we left Florida by X time, we'd make it to a Verona autocross. And we did.

There are definitely more. One of the big ones though, that I was actually just telling someone about last night - going to Student Org Night my freshman year, knowing I haaaaated being part of the MRDs, and seeing a motorcycle helmet sticking up above all the tri-fold boards, wondering "hmm, what's that all about" and promptly meeting Goodspeed, DJ, and Justin. They told me all about MM, invited me to a BBQ a few days later, and the rest is history.

The three of them did this to me and they should accept full blame.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - SlimKlim - 07-30-2015

Oh man, I'm running into my morning meeting in a minute but I'll have to dig through old social medias and forum posts today and find some of the good photos and stories. I have some ridiculous photos/videos from my old phone, but 1.) I don't know where they ended up and 2.) some of them probably shouldn't be posted... In fact, I have a feeling a lot of the truly great MM stories are best told in person.

One of the OGs can probably provide more context buy the RJ <3s Cock thing is simply tradition. Way back when someone sold a vehicle and decided to write that out with the cash, and it became a strong and proud MM tradition.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - WRXtranceformed - 07-30-2015

My favorite MM memories:

My first car show with the club where Maeng stood on Mikey's Civic motor and watered an aloe plant with his intercooler sprayer, and I got my first glimpse of Pete's awesome turbocharged Ford thing

My brother and I skunking Adam I think it was? and someone else at an MM party beer pong table

Obliterating a Civic with huge Indiglo gauges in my STI that would not leave me alone after an MM dinner. I believe Ryan was in the car and I think I also had a cracked piston ring at that point as oil was spraying out of my exhaust

Spraypainting Maeng's miata top in Mikey's front yard and then for some reason we thought it would be a good idea to spray paint the tree there too

Getting to know the awesome human being that Scotty is and his first introduction to the club to me. Without him I wouldn't know everyone here

For pictures, I have to go back to the first pages of my Photobucket for the MM Halloween party:

Keith lost the captain morgan drinking contest that night:

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - rherold9 - 07-30-2015

Oh those photos and stories. I like this thread already. Too bad some students like me still don't know half the alumni. If only we could get a full MM reunion. Somehow. Still awesome to see this thread. I'll be looking forward to more.

I've got a picture of a certain mm president wearing a lovely wig and cradling a bottle of burnettes that I'm tempted to post

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - V1GiLaNtE - 07-30-2015

Hmm, let me see:

1) Spray painting Jake's old E30 in my backyard on Wolfe Street
2) My Wolfe Street house being the MM Wrench lot ( I remember Joey coming over before I even got up to replace his shifter bushings on a Saturday)
2a) Coming home from class to find Joey and Evan working on a motorcycle in my kitchen.
3) Wolfe Street house being the MM overflow car/motorcycle lot
4) Straightening the front radiator support of that b00sted civic with a weightlifting bar that rear-ended Joey on our 33W cruise
5) Basically any MM Turducken with highlights:
A) Rex and Julies Townhouse in Manassas. Those who were there know the story. Thanks for the biscuits and gravy guys!
B) Channing riding DJ's roadbike in the snow and Keg stands
6) DEFINITELY the burn it down and watching David M hurl into a bowl and the motorcycle in the shed
7) The infamous "I AM ALL THAT IS MAN" wrench day involving Jake's BWM and attempting to separate the driveshaft.
7a) Running Jake's e30 in PRun without an exhaust
7b) Running Joey's FZR without an exhaust
8) AutoX'ing the "Great White Whale" with 5 People in the car
9) Any general car/jeep shenanigans that happens at Kaan/Sylvia's house

Why do I feel like we students need to do more reckless things now

I wouldn't say "need". Things just happened because they happened.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - RawrImAMonster - 07-30-2015

Because you do. JMU has really tamed down since 2011 or so it seems like.

"We" took crazy to a level never seen before. So when you "children" judge us for being the old farts, we just all laugh inside because we just see WEAK shit.

<3 the old fart.

I think you guys are going to be ok. Last party I went to people were playing games with a hammer. Like, I'll ride any two wheeled vehicle on any surface in any mental state, but I 'aint playing that game.

Re: MMMM: Memorable Moments in Madison Motorsports - Jewels - 07-30-2015

We had some great times back then. I think all of my old pictures are on Rex's dead computer. So.... I'm never getting them back. Some of the most important people in my life have come from being a part of this club.

Also, I remember walking out of the Anything for MM Money party saying... this is gonna get ugly... someone is going to jail. AND NOBODY DID! It was like a miracle.

I remember going to pick up Dave and Rex from the Strasburg police department where they'd managed to rack up 9 tickets between them.

Rebuilding the Supra in Rex's dad's garage right before we got married. Long hours and lots of help from lots of people on that machine.

Chili Cookoff at the Oakton house.... drunken donuts in the miata and Evan's truck.

I think you are just getting old. Stump is not dangerous game compared to some of the stories I'm seeing and heard hahaha.

Kaan, you are right. I feel like you all have done more ridiculous shit than we have at certain times. Then again there are only so many opportunities for things to happen.

I wish I had some photos of these. Good times. Except those shifter bushings, fuck those things.

And yes, I strongly, strongly recommend asking some alumni (but especially Kaan) about the best stories from their times in school. There are some truly epic tales to be heard.

Anyway, I raided my old youtube account and facebook to dredge up what I could.

One of my personal favorites. I think Ray Schumin snapped this of us all glossing over during an autocross driver's meeting. I'm 99% sure we were all catastrophically hung over.

So one time I thought it'd be really cute to use "racer's tape" to make purple stripes on my car and rep JMU at the college autocross. Racer's tape = duct tape. 10+ year old clearcoat sprayed on in someone's shed in florida doesn't like duct tape. I still don't like talking about it.

An epic photo Goodspeed snapped of my car on one of the first MM cruises I did. We went up skyline drive, and I distinctly remember I was so hungover I was practically dry heaving most of the way up there, and kristin goodwin greatly underestimated the capabilities of her bladder when faced with H&R race springs, so we ended up doing an emergency dash for the nearest convenience store.
