Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Senor_Taylor - 07-28-2015 Hey all, this is the rough schedule for the early fall. More changes will be made, but these dates are like 95% certain. Focus Points for early this year: -Member retention -Making meeting more interesting and worthwhile (Festival rooms, pizza, maybe F&F movies after a shortened meeting) -Better presence at student org night (Make an MM flag?) -Having better and more worthwhile events (parties, cruises, college solo, general hangouts) -Make a profit on apparel order -Get students out to auto-crosses first and foremost, then work our way to the track Rough schedule: 0. Frog week shenanigans at my house for current members 1. Student Org Night 2. Club cookout very soon after Student Org night to get some potential members out to meet current ones 3. Kline's Meet/Parking Deck meet (first formal event) - 2nd week of classes, September 9th 4. First class room meet on September 16th (collect dues) 5. College Solo in October, make club participation a focus point It's still early to get really far into the year and we're going to convene again before school starts. Karting will probably be spring only. Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Jake - 07-28-2015 Couple things. We used to have a MM banner. My parents donated it. Cody lost it. Emphasize autocross and track weekends equally. Talk to Laura soon and see if she wants to kind of reinstate the volunteer worker program. Students may not have the money to get out on track, but working in exchange for a weekend of fast cars, some fast rides and maybe a Hyperdrive or something could work out well. Obviously autocross has a lower point of entry cost- and distance-wise but don't de-emphasize one for the other. Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - rherold9 - 07-28-2015 Track weekend > Auto-x, imo. I agree with Jake on emphasizing things equally. You can get a hotel room for $79 for VIR a night if you don't want to camp split between 2 people is super cheap just saying. Keep these things in mind from last year - try to make money and try to keep attendance high throughout the year as it dies off in the Spring for some reason... seems like you have thought of these concept already Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Senor_Taylor - 07-28-2015 That's all fine and dandy and we'll push track weekends, but it's more feasible to get a student to an auto-cross to get them interested, get them involved, then get them to the track. We're not de-emphasizing anything, Jake, trust me. We all like the track and I would love to see students make it out, but it's difficult and a tough sell. Jake, you yourself didn't even really track until your Senior year and later if I'm correct. Can't expect freshmen to head out there and make it their life. Think of not de-emphasizing the track, and more like putting MORE emphasis on getting students to auto-crosses to get their foot in the door. Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Sully - 07-28-2015 ![]() Just a observation, karting has historically been way more successful in the fall when planned early. If like past years, you'll be hard pressed to fill a spring karting event, especially on the student side Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Senor_Taylor - 07-28-2015 Thanks for the pointers. We'll take them into consideration. Can't expect freshmen to head out there and make it their life. I worked (flagging corners) sophomore, junior and senior year. What I keep saying, that nobody seems to entirely comprehend, is that IF someone would just talk to Laura Cobetto and ask about volunteer opportunities, it'd be a great way to have students at the track and exposed/involved without putting out tons of money or putting wear on their cars. We did this starting back from the OG days (talk to Gerald) all the way through my senior year, and it was hugely successful in getting students exposed and also helping NASA. Re: Tentative Fall schedule 2015 - Senor_Taylor - 07-29-2015 We'll look into it; Thanks Jake. |
