"BMW Driving Experience" - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-28-2015 While not as cool as the Porsche/Audi/BMW experiences at Summit Point, it's at least a free way to autox a brand new car. Another chance for me to scare the shit out of instructors. https://ude.bmwusa.com/ Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - Senor_Taylor - 05-28-2015 You have to be 21 to do this, by the way. I know some younger MM'ers have signed up already. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-28-2015 Senor_Taylor Wrote:You have to be 21 to do this, by the way. I know some younger MM'ers have signed up already. I wish I was less than 21, you can do the "teen driving experience" for an entire day for free. Way better than a couple autox runs. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - rherold9 - 05-28-2015 Lols I might do this. Will they let you turn off almost all the electronic goodies? DJ how many runs before they don't let you drive? Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-28-2015 rherold9 Wrote:Lols I might do this. I got one run in the Mazda Minivan before the cut up my card. :| Other than that I really have never had a problem, actually most of the time they pull me aside and ask me questions. At the Audi one, they pulled me aside to ride along in an R8 (I drove it earlier) and was asked to provide tips to their instructors on the Shenandoah Course at Summit Point. Helped that the autox was timed and they were "shocked" at the time I put down. The porsche one the instructors were just "hoity toity" and pretended no one else mattered. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - Senor_Taylor - 05-28-2015 I was assuming most people were doing the autocross. "Teen driving experience" sounds bland, haha. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - D_Eclipse9916 - 05-28-2015 Senor_Taylor Wrote:"Teen driving experience" sounds bland, haha. Back in my day, lots of autocross runs, wet skidpad, avoidance maneuvers and generally beating the snot out of cars for 2 hours that weren't mine was fun. Guess the days have changed. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - JPolen01 - 05-28-2015 D_Eclipse9916 Wrote:No no. This sounds like a good time. I've always wanted to do one of those evasive driving days where they put the car on the go jacks and teach you how to slide it around.Senor_Taylor Wrote:"Teen driving experience" sounds bland, haha. They should use more excited words to name it. Agreed, but then would the parents sign up their kids to do it? Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - Senor_Taylor - 05-28-2015 Good point. Either way, it's a shame all of the cool stuff is too far from me. I would be scared too with you behind one of those! Probably do things I would never want to do in a Mazda5 BLINGMW Wrote:rherold9 Wrote:IS IT EVEN POSSIBLE TO turn off almost all the electronic goodies?FTFY Yeah exactly. Just wondering if I could casually drift a bit on "accident" Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - Jake - 05-29-2015 Based on what I did yesterday (writeup to come) I doubt they'll let you fully disable the nannies. We were allowed to have it in "Sport" but not "Sport+" and they made us promise to not use the paddle shifters, which I promptly did anyway. I'm going to see if I can make this work for that Saturday morning (the 13th). Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - SlimKlim - 05-29-2015 Is this the same type of event you just did Jake? The way I read it is you get a maximum of 2 supervised autocross runs in exchange for listening to a day's worth of marketing drivel, doesn't really seem worth it. Getting to pace them around Shenandoah on the other hand would be worth sitting through many #EfficientDynamics seminars. Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - Jake - 05-29-2015 SlimKlim Wrote:Is this the same type of event you just did Jake? No, this is strictly autocross around what should be a far more legit autocross course. We didn't sit through any drivel about how wonderful the cars were, actually. Here's an article about what this event that DJ posted is all about: http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/bmws-free ... 1608111340 Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - rherold9 - 05-29-2015 Jake Wrote:http://carbuying.jalopnik.com/bmws-free-ultimate-driving-experience-is-better-than-so-1608111340 :o Looks more promising than I expected. May have to do this for sure now Edit: and every weekend time is wait listed so I guess not Re: "BMW Driving Experience" - *insertusernamehere* - 05-29-2015 My parents and I are going to be there on the 14th. |
